who as moded is 597 VTR ??? NOW WITH PICS !!!! TIPS & TRICKS

Nice good to hear, one thing I'm a tad concerned with is the fact its been almost 24 hours and I still haven't received an order confirmation from hawktecharms, is that normal, all I got was payment confirmation from (FRAUD ALERT)

Yep,
I too also haven't had any issues yet with mine but it will make for a fun weekend project. That's why I am waiting for rimfiresports.com to re-stock the extractor, so I can buy from them.

just thought I'd post this here,

I had mine out on the weekend to try some different ammo options, factory mag.

Winchester bulk- jammed every mag once or twice, the lead bullet would catch feeding into the chamber (flat point/soft lead/loose round in case)

Remington hi-velocity- jammed once every other mag. Fail to fire. (primer/hammer)

Federal Bulk- blue box 525rds.- We shot about 450 rds. with not one failure (this stuff has the copper plated bullet).

ymmv- however my 597 really likes to fire federal bulk ammo.

accuracy was fine for my requirements. 4" steel plate, 50m consistant hits.

hope this helps.

Did you adjust the guide rods?

Just took my 597 down to the range today for the first time after installing the VQ hammer and extractor, as well as free-floating the barrel (have the regular 597, not the VTR). What a vast improvement with the hammer...the pull is significantly lighter and feels smoother too. Much easier to shoot accurately with this upgrade.

I also found that CCI Mini-Mags work basically flawlessly in my gun, much much better than some Winchester Super-X high velocity copper-plated ammo that I also tried. The Mini-Mags fed great, but I had the occasionally failure to feed with the Super-X. The Mini-Mags were also noticeably more accurate and consistent as well.

Kind of a shame that the store at Silverdale was selling them for 9 bucks for 50. I bought a pack of 100 last December for $11...sigh.

Here are some pics of mine, just got er today on a trade,

trigger and hammer upgrades in the mail :)

I got mine from hawktecharms.com but I wouldn't recommend them horrible service, no tracking number and I had to pay $15 for shipping....pure bs, when I tied to cancel my order because he hasn't shipped it he simply told me he would cancel the order and refund the money for the product but not the shipping... If you haven't shipped it, why da fudge can't I get my money back??? To this day no proof he acctually shipped it 7 days and counting
