Who bought a S&W SD9 VE, 4.25", $350 compact 9mm pistol?

No I haven't shot it yet actually either of them in the pic have yet to be shot. Ironically they both arrived the same day in the mail from different sources , but with luck I'll get out Friday and make them bark :)
Got a great deal from a gun shop I know back east from here , unfortunately it'll go unnamed because the price isn't extended to everyone and I don't want to burn a bridge .
Build quality it done well , the size is great if we were able to carry - and this thing is nice and light in the hand.
Smith & Wesson did a excellent job for this price point and will defiantly gain allot of momentum in the Canadian market with this pistol.

I'm impressed. Going to buy one tomorrow if they're still in stock at my local store. If others are on board, I'll ask Irunguns if they can bring in the trigger kits and mags. I don't see these items at Brownell's. Any holsters that fit this pistol?

I didn't really handle the SD9 but I bought the SD40 from P&D last week. I haven't had a chance to do anything except dry fire it at this point but after taking it apart and cleaning it, I'm impressed with the quality and didn't find the trigger bad. I've handled worse for sure. My fiancé handled it and found that with the ridges on the slide she could rack the slide with her limited hand and arm strength (she can't rack my glock 17). I am glad I made the impulse purchase. Have to admit I wasn't even thinking new gun when I walked in the store.

Where do you get them? The Sigma magazine doesn't list the SD9, but looks identical. I hate buying a pistol then can't find additional mags for them. $41.82 US on S&W's online store.

Whoa!

Dude... read what I said: I HEARD... that it uses Sigma mags.

Meaning someone else had an opinion and told that opinion to me.

I do not own any S&W at all... I just handled one at the store the other day and that's what a clerk told me.

Meaning people need to confirm this before they order a bunch of mags.

Well as I said before, cheaper than dirt has both the mags and the spring kit but they do not ship to Canada, so they are available, Irunguns must be able to get them or I could check with Cheaper than dirt to have a bunch sent to irg for import!

Relax, I found and posted the correct mag for this pistol. (From S&W's site):

So can somebody clarify this for me. Does the SD9VE come with 2 mags or only the 1? US postings say 2 but others have said 1. Makes me wonder if some retailers are removing the second mag to cash in on the value, or some are adding a 2nd mag to further the Value Enhanced(highly unlikely given the cost of the mag).
Cheers

Just bought one, they let me test the trigger in the store - stiff and long but not terrible. It would really benefit from those 5.5 lb spring kits... Asked about spare mags and was told that they didn't have any. He called his distributor and was told that they were sold out and around $50 retail.

I contacted IRG to see what they'd say about importing these trigger spring kits and mags as a "Group Buy", if they say it's doable I'll post a thread in their section. Again, if anyone else in interested in these items, post.

Any interest in the shorter travel trigger as well as the spring kit?

Brand: Apex Tactical Specialties 107-003
Item: 2-APX107-003

The Apex Polymer Action Enhancement Trigger Kit directly replaces the factory hinged trigger with a solid body polymer trigger with a center mounted pivoting safety. The rounded face of the trigger provides a smooth comfortable surface for the shooter’s finger while firing. The trigger also reduces pre-travel by approximately 20% and over travel by 10% when compared to the factory trigger and is perfect for use in SD and Sigma pistols already equipped with an Apex SD or Sigma Spring Kits, but works as a standalone component as well.

Smooth face trigger
Reduced trigger pre-travel by 20%
Reduced trigger over-travel by 10% Reduced trigger pull weight by 10-15%

Fits: S&W SD, SD-VE and Sigma series, all calibers
S&W Sigma C, F, and VE models
Note: Slight tuning, fitting, or modification may be needed for certain models.

Hey everyone. If you live in edmonton you might like to know that mill arm has the trigger kits in stock right now. I just picked one up for $24. They probably have six left.

Here's my humble review: (C-, you get what you pay for).

Pretty shameful that S&W put a trigger this bad into this pistol, otherwise it would be a great buy. It's extremely long, has tons of creep and the break is like a sponge. I've been spoiled by my SRT in my Sig Elite, the SD9 has the worst trigger I've ever seen. If I don't get a trigger kit, I probably won't keep this pistol. My groups were terrible for the first couple mags, then got a little better when I figured out the grip and did my best with the awful trigger. Still, going from my 226 to this was like 'I was a beginner again'. Mags are good, metal and not too tight to put the last couple in. SD9 doesn't come with a hard case, just a cardboard box, 2 mags & a cable lock. Shot 100rds with no FTE/FTF, which is what I expected out of a S&W product. The reportedly 'bad trigger' is 'terrible' and would probably make a seasoned shooter fumble - it's just that bad. Recoil was a lot more than my 9mm 226 (closer to my .40 HK), which also threw me off my game.

I'll go out on a limb here and say the $361 US Ruger 9E is a better pistol out of the box, due to it's 5 lb trigger. I should have bought that one. I truly think there will be a lot of disappointed people when they go to the range with this pistol, due to the trigger alone. Pistol felt good in my large hands, balance, ergonomics are good - just needs a trigger job. Apex trigger kit is an absolute must for this.

I am going to purchase three of the spring kits today for 24.00 plus tax. PM me if you want one and I can mail it to you letter mail. I am not asking for any profit. Just doing it as a favour for the first few fellow gun nutz who ask.

Very nice of you to do that. I'm sure they went fast... these sure need a trigger job, in my opinion.

Anyone want the SD40 (40 S&W) version it's in stock at this sponsor:
