Who has a Steyr HS50?

The current mount is the model SP-4001 which is 30mm/1.18" high, the "high" mount is 38mm/1.5" high so I think that's the one I am getting with 20MOA (6mil) cant... SP-4602.

Mr. Spuhr just asked me for my phone # and address, then he replied saying I'll have my new mount next week. :dancingbanana:

I have the 4602 and it was a no-go on my 34mm S&B, with the 56mm objective. Hopefully your 50mm objective will fit...

The 4602 has 20 MOA cant, and the rail already has 20, so you'll have 40 MOA cant, which isn't a bad thing!

Sweet!

Are you handloading for this rifle?

Ben

I just loaded up some rounds for mine today - using the 750gr AMAX projectile and 205gr of H50BMG in some really nice IVI Match brass. Keeping the velocities down a tad as I am working up the loads slowly, but accuracy has been in the 0.4 MOA range so far, with me being the limiting factor!

I'd be curious to hear if that powder is temp sensitive for you. Seemed to be for me. I wanted to use RL 50 but i can't find that stuff around here.

Yes, seems quite temp sensitive - I think this is not only due to the powder itself, but also the large charge weights involved (over 200 grains), which likely compound the effect. At some point, I'll do a controlled study of ammo temp vs. Muzzle velocity once I settle on a base load.

Tiborasauras Rex online has a great collection of videos on YouTube, and firing solution Calcforms that include ammo temp correction factors. As I recall, the .50 was his example.

Awesome! I'll check it out. I'm definitely interested in hearing how you make out with testing.

Mebius - That is some baller ammo!

Ben

These are not Raufoss rounds at $85USD each... nor do they contain any depleted uranium. Either of those would be true baller. :50cal:

You are correct. However, I handload so buying match ammo for a 50 I consider pretty baller haha...

I'm excited to hear a range report!

Ben

How do you get hornady brass if you don't buy the ammo? :d

Still waiting for the correct Spuhr mount from Sweden...

I'd be all over lapua 50 brass if you can get it. Pricey, but I bet it's awesome! It's all i use n my 338's. I've even considered forming 416 brass out of it but the forming dies are very expensive (and the barrett brass is not bad price wise). Barrett brass isn't great quality though. I wish it was lapua.

With RMR mount eh? I'm excited to hear a range report. Probably not as excited as you are to shoot it though haha...

Have fun!
