Who has CZ557 Ranger rifles in stock?

Looks like that company has the wrong picture and write up under the SKU number for the "unRanger" , the one with no sights and euro walnut stock that everyone is selling

Called and confirmed. Henderson is correct. It's the "no-ranger" model. It's quite nice. If it came with irons, it woukd be perfect for me as I much prefer the Bavarian stock for iron sights usage. I cancelled the order, as I decided the cost of a Smith drilling and tapping the barrel, plus the cost of a quality flip-up peep sight, would add at least $300.

My local gun store has a "no-ranger". I am going to handle it and gain a real first hand observation and impression. I called a gunsmith who said the fitting of the 557 factory front sight assembly is easy, and that he would custom fabricate a rear peep sight that screws into the factory Picatinny rail. It might turn out to be the perfect rifle, though it will cost me quite a bit extra.

If you do that please post pictures. I'd love to see that setup, in particular the peep sight.

I have to say I'm impressed that CZ put a pic rail on the Range Rifle that actually lets you see the iron sights through the groove! None of the CZ rails with grooves I have tried on other models (550s) would allow using the irons.

The one I got is marked 2021.

Does anyone know if it is possible to buy this rail separately? Would be hoping to install said rail on a 557?

You cannot install it on a non ranger 557. The front and rear area's on the receiver are drilled and tapped on a ranger and also milled out for the rail to sit down in it and then attach via torq heads, the plain 557 receivers are not milled out or drilled and tapped, so the Ranger rail will not fit

CZ does make a rail for the standard 557 dovetails, so does Russan, EGW, and a few others, 0 and 20 moa cant.

I've tried the cz and egw and could not see the iron sights on a normal 550/557. I haven't had the ranger rail off, but it's bolted to the receiver by the top. I do suspect hunterhenderson is right and that you can't put it on a normal 557. I'm pretty sure it's also shorter than the standard 550 rail.

Ok yeah, I was wondering whether you could purchase this Range rifle pic rail separately and put it on a 557 or 550. Sounds like it might not be available aftermarket through CZ though.

It seems like some of the site sponsors got new old stock of 557s.. Tesro has a great deal on this really nice rifle now:

There's LOTS of 557's with various site sponsors. If a 30-06 "synthetic" model with iron sights goes on sale, I will buy one. I don't need it, but it will be for the future or for my son. You won't find that level of quality for under $900 anywhere, ever.

Ya you sure got that right, they are amazing guns for the money

There’s a .30-06 Night Sky at Reliable with the speckled stock and flash hider like Henderson’s. No irons though. Looks like this current batch are all the “American” style — scope only — which I don’t mind at all. The prices are so good I’m trying to find an excuse to get another. Tempting
