Who hates a .270 Winchester?

We have a mod that talks ####

Did I hurt your feelings or chucks or the 270wins? Funny how we have a mod that talks #### to other users out of the blue.

You're a good protector though, he's lucky to have a guy like you in his corner. Good to know I live rent free in your head since you're always coming at me randomly.
Did I say something about your elk? Or are you just making that up for dramatic effect?
Aside from this have I ever responded to you here ever?

Re. the .270 - people like to blame cartridges for their mistakes, and glorify cartridges when they are used with success. Both behaviors are somewhat ignorant. The .270, like most cartridges in common use, is perfectly adequate and nothing special.
I had an outfitter tell me he no longer allowed clients to shoot black bears over bait with 6.5 Creedmoors because the bullets simply didn't expand and they were losing too many animals. He figured it was fine for long range hunting but not bears up close. I had to grit my teeth, smile, and nod.

Sorry guys you only need a 6.5creedmoor to kill elk. You don't needmore.

I don't and probably will never own a 270win or 3006. I'd buy a 243win/6CM before either.View attachment 1222171
The 6.5 Creed is a Great cartridge and IS adequate to Kill Elk with a Good bullet and Good shot placement! I hunt with one often in my UL rifle - mostly for Deer 👍

Same goes for any caliber. You can't compensate for poor shot placement. A 243 with a Accubond or Partition in the lungs is better than a 338 win mag in the a** of an elk.

Of course a poor placed shot is just that.
One of the keys is to have the patience to wait for a good shot angle which is even more important when using somewhat more modest cartridges. Some situations do not offer that luxury so you either have to carry a bit more gun or be fully prepared to pass on the opportunity. Passing on the opportunity is often easier to say than to do when a big buck/bull is moving out and gives you only a moment to decide.

you were feed some BS there from that outfitter ! :p

Hunters should spend more time learning to stalk and shoot instead of pouring over ballistic charts and arguing about cartridges. That 2" less drop at 400 yards or the 300 additional foot pounds at the muzzle don't matter a bit if you can't hit your target where it matters.
I like the Blokes down under who get the 6.8 western..... (270wsm)...
An shoot #### at 100-200m 😂😂😂

But Nah ,it's Cool
....

Well I shot a moose one day with one of my 30-06’s, that moose did take five well placed shots to go down where all the other moose I’ve taken with 30-06’s have all been 1 shot kills or sometimes 2 shot kills never more ever… other than that time when that bull moose just didn’t want to give up and didn’t want to believe he was dead.
I’m not saying that bigger guns are not good but on wild game you can never predict what will happen after the shot unless it’s a spin shot or head shot!!
If that's all the good a .30-06 is gonna do ya, take a .243 next time. ;) What you say is so true of course, good story. Which is really all the more reason to err on the side of "too large." To your point, last year's big 10+ point whitetail buck i heartshot with a .30-06 at 19 yards reared up on impact and as soon as his front feet hit the ground again he came straight at me.
