Who hates a .270 Winchester?

Ha ha, but so is saying a 270 is not a elk capable cartridge and for deer only???

🤯🤯
That irony is ....well, just ironic.
Lord, I am so tired
How long can this go on?

I been a-working, going, working
Whew, about to slip down

Working, going, working
Whew, about to slip down....

Thank you Devo LOL.
Some pics of nice guns and great memories from the field.

We as hunters and shooters are a weird lot. We will "hate" one great cartridge while clinging to another that is practically the same. Most of this bias is often based on nothing more than superstitions and wife's tales from others who have had a bad experience with said chambering often from family or friends.

Thats true lol. Will admit to considering some "lucky" even though I know its BS!

One morning just at dawn there was a barrage of rifleshots just south of my south fenceline. Elk season had just started. I finished my coffee and went out the door to help the neighbor I was pretty certain it was get his elk into his truck. I found him and his 4x4 bull elk down in the wetland the animal had been able to flee to. For some unfathomable reason, this guy who usually hunts with a 7mm Remington magnum had decided to take a .243 on this elk hunt. It took him five shots to bring the thing down, any one of which would have been more swiftly fatal with his usual gun. I examined the shot placement, all good. As Elmer Keith (or maybe it was O'Connor) said, it is a whole lot easier to be undergunned than to be overgunned. Carry enough gun, it never hurts to risk being overboard. A .270 with the right tough, heavy bullet is usually enough gun for elk. Fantastic all-round calibre. A .30-06 is better under the conditions here.

Well I shot a moose one day with one of my 30-06’s, that moose did take five well placed shots to go down where all the other moose I’ve taken with 30-06’s have all been 1 shot kills or sometimes 2 shot kills never more ever… other than that time when that bull moose just didn’t want to give up and didn’t want to believe he was dead.
I’m not saying that bigger guns are not good but on wild game you can never predict what will happen after the shot unless it’s a spin shot or head shot!!

Sorry guys you only need a 6.5creedmoor to kill elk. You don't needmore.

I don't and probably will never own a 270win or 3006. I'd buy a 243win/6CM before either.20250730_210314.jpg

Your FB group are just Fing wanna bee's who know exactly F-ing NOTHING ! Run away from conversing with those Morons ! Elk hunters :ROFLMAO: yea riight ! How many actually own a 270 or have shot any game with one - I BET None !
I am 67. I live in moose country. I shot moose with 303 br, 30-06, 45-70, 7x57 and 6.5x55. Mostly all in one shot. They all worked, very well in fact. I could not imagine how a rifle that is a standard cartridge up here could be hated down there. My favorite is the 6.5x55 with 160 gr bullets. Partly because it is a nice light rifle, and also it is the hammer of thor on moose. I am not a long range hunter, I hunt in the brush and the timber. 125 yards is a long shot.

We have a mod that talks ####
You got your first ever elk and now you’re an expert. Gotcha 👍

Did I hurt your feelings or chucks or the 270wins? Funny how we have a mod that talks #### to other users out of the blue.

You're a good protector though, he's lucky to have a guy like you in his corner. Good to know I live rent free in your head since you're always coming at me randomly.

Oh little man, I see you’re the one with the hurt feelers. It’s ok,

I’m no protector of anyone (don’t know Chuck}. You got caught trying to play big white hunter on the interweb and feel dumb after doing so. One elk killed gives your opinion about the amount of a bowl of soup. Really, not much of anything…

You can’t stop people from telling the truth.
