Who here owns a Non Restricted Sten gun from Sask Sten?.

FWIW, the RCMP has always maintained that if a simple bolt swap can make a gun go full-auto, then it is not acceptable. Conversion to full-auto has to require tools and modifications to the firearm, else it meets the "easily converted" criteria for prohibition.

Was it a simple bolt swap ? I seem to remember the commentary on the RCMP video stating that the bolt was modified.

To refresh people's memory, the reason ******** was in trouble in the first place is he used the SAS-3 Sten MkIIS FRT number to register open-bolt guns with extended sear catches. This proved unacceptable by the RCMP lab and prompted a bunch of legal woes for ******** and all the other more law abiding SAS-3 owners who then had their guns placed in FRT limbo. It's also what got him banned from this site if I recall.

It might be a good idea to refresh your own memory before refreshing the memories of others.

I figure the countdown to a re-lock of this thread is on... 3, 2, 1....

Oh, and since you are reading this ******** - it was tiriaq, stencollector and myself who did all the heavy lifting to make a semi-sten possible in Canada only to have YOU screw it up for us and have all our builds since your fiasco impounded by the RCMP for indefinite "study".

I don;t think I need my memory refreshed about how much of my property is STILL at the RCMP lab thanks to you. Bill Etter even referred to your products when apologizing as to why my stuff got impounded - so please, POUND SAND.

I wanted a Sten.

I built my own using the SAS-3 style closed bolt mechanism.

I met with the CFO of NS before I started, explained what I wanted to do, why, and we discussed the way ahead. I got approval IN WRITING from him to proceed.

I built the bolt mech from scratch, receiver tube, and other bits were added, and I took the collection of bitsnpieces to see the CFO again before assembling them.

The CFO reviewed what I was doing, compared the project to a real Sten MK II, and gave me the go-ahead to put the pieces together, and we registered the magwell at that time.

Once the gun was complete, I met a 3rd time with the CFO, and we looked at the SAS-3 system I'd built, confirmed that it only functioned in Semi-auto, from the closed bolt, and that the full auto bolt n bits could NOT fit into it.

The gun's registration was then changed from frame or receiver only, to complete, restricted (due to barrel length) rifle.

I was wide open with the CFO about what I was doing, and how I was doing it.

I offered to send the gun into the lab for testing, but they were apparently satisfied with the CFO's expertise on this subject, as I have not received a request to submit it.

*shrug*

I have the 3rd, legally registered Semi-Auto Sten gun in Canada. It's in my safe right now. It took me about 100 hours of machine and shop time to build.

The build thread is on here somewhere if you want to read it. My cost was around $800 if I remember right. (That said, I still have a 18.5" barrel stub lying around that's worth about $180, so total cost outlay minus that is about $620.)

Not sure how he even keeps track of all his aliases. Currently, he is El Poser, DGAF (don't give a fu**) and cracit. In another thread, he even comes in under 2 of these names to shill his next attempt at a product. Well at least Canadian tire will always do well selling spray paint to him so he can "professionally" finish his products.

He knows that even bad publicity is at least publicity. Best thing mods can do is simply erase any and all posts made by him and any of his many aliases. You can't blame him for continually coming here mind you: he has been booted off just about every other board he has been on.

Yeah right ! Cry me a river :D:D:D:D:D

Bill Etter LOL:D

Hey Claven2 !, how is it that I can build guns and get them through the system without them being detained against my wishes when you can't ?

I can build new SAS-3 Stens if I want to, but I have to make the kits from scratch as the SAS-3 bolt assembly is out of production now, but any other design is being "impounded for lab study" before an FRT is approved. They aren't telling anyone not to build them, but my last couple stens have been "at the lab for evaluation" for over 3 years as of last week.

I'm told that they are simply sitting on them refusing to make any determination because last time they approved a Sten FRT, you came along and started registering guns that did not match the FRT specification. You might not be doing that anymore - I have no idea, but we all know you did it at one time and we all know that's why the lab is being obstructive to everyone else now. It's also why the MP3008 Marstar was selling was re-evaluated into a prohib.

So thanks.

Certainly I did it , and do you know why ?

It's news to me about the MP 3008,is it the same deal with the BD-38 ? only I have one and have heard nothing from the CFC about it.

That "registry success list" is interesting reading.
Very clear explanation by the police of the dishonest practices of a licence holder.
