Who is buying a Type81?

Maybe when the hype dies down and they're $500...

Good luck with that.

Regardless of how well it actually works, people will pay $1K for an East Bloc gun in x39 that takes banana mags. Because "It friggin looks b@d@ss!!!" and we don't have many options.

I wanted one since it was submitted for classification. I'll be honest, I had no idea what a type 81 was until then, but I liked the way it looked and the military versions seem to work well, and the design appears pretty conventional and solid...anyways, that was 4 years ago now? Or 3? Regardless I was in no way going to let it slip through my fingers without at least trying to secure one...time will tell now, whether they make it here on time or not, and how they handle and shoot...then it would be likely quite some time before you would start hearing about flaws/failures by that time who's to say whether or not more will be made/imported after this first batch of 1000 rifles. I'm pretty sure TI already stated there's no planned production for 2017.

I want one, but the places where I could shoot it are very limited.
My gun club only allows handguns up to 44 mag and rimfire rifles.

I have a fixed stock version with a total of 7 mags on order. Already making payments to Tactical Capital for it. Can't wait to shoot it. Between it and an CZ-858 (which I already have) you won't get closer to an AK in Canada unless you are lucky enough to stumble upon a Valmet that does not cost an arm and a leg. Thought about a T97NSr but when I handled one, I was not impressed. Not a fan of bullpups to begin with, and I found the T97 to be poorly balanced and awkward.

No, but they may be $849 when they flood the market and every dealer gets them.

I remember the Zastava Skorpions at T.I being $999 and they dropped $300 after the CSA's VZ61's came in at $750... T97 is $829 at Al Flaherty's, their price dropped when the improved version came out. Don't think those are flying off the shelves with mixed reviews.

But we'll see what happens in the next few months or it may drag on forever (I've waited for pre-orders that were repeatedly delayed, not going to do it anymore).

I think they said there wasn't another batch coming in until sometime in 2017

If there's $$ in it, the Chinese will make it, and someone will import it. TI won't have an "exclusive" for as long as they would hope. The Chinese just don't work that way.

TBH, I would be more inclined to be interested in this gun if it was being brought in by another vendor.

No worries - I guess that was what it was. I haven't spent over $1200 for a rifle yet. There is always room for improvement.
