Who is buying a Type81?

guess that means Ill be the proud owner of a limited production gun when these finally come in. TI says the next batch wont come in for 3+ years due to the factory being booked for military orders.

TI sounds like a car salesman.

Why wood a factory tool up to make a tiny batch of rifles then switch to something else for 3 years. A business man would just fire up to make a run of rifles for 3 years to fill big orders not make a tiny batch for TI. Ask TI the phone number of the factory and see what is really going on.

Ya it sounds to me like you guys will be lucky to see them this year. I'm a contractor and I know what "we should be able to get there in July" means.

They didn't say they would be here in July. They said they hope production would start in July. While I'm glad they finally updated us I'm hesitant to buy into the line they just found all this out so suddenly. More like a summation of where they are currently at over the entire term of their engagement.

For now I will stay. See what happens down the road and use my $50 somehow.

Need to keep track of all the incentives that are adding up. Extra mags... gift certificates.

Kind of a shame, really...

With the supply of vz-58/cz-858 rifles drying up, and/or sky-rocketing in price, it would be nice to see another mag fed, non-R, x39 bullet hose at a fair price coming onto the market.

But for this gun to work in the market, it's going to need to come over in numbers. Otherwise you don't end up with the aftermarket accessories and parts to really wring out the best of these.

I wish that some other importer would pick up the ball that TI seems intent on dropping, and make a big enough order for Norinco to actually be interested in making a good production run of them.

I'm all in for the second import/gen 2. Not going anywhere near the first imports from norinco heard stories, seen the photos and experienced it myself. Ill wait even if it takes 3 years.

Curious that 30000 rifles have been ordered for a military contract, I would think an ak would be cheaper to make and maintain.

Vz58 rifles aren't drying up. The cz858 are but Westrifle is pushing their wr762 to market and there is at least one other that got an frt issued for their model but just haven't seen them land yet. And of course csa rifles are still available.

Did you read the update? We may only get one import. If any.

500-1000 units is really peanut sales, somebody else with more capital should make an order of atleast 5000 units to get this back on track in queue.

This reminds me of the ERE/CSC/NS FAMAE SG54x batch imported sooner than TI situation that has happened.

And others are trying... might be deja vu for TI. The others have the capitol not to ask for presales.

Yeah it would have been nice to have a decent amount hit the market to warrant someone putting in the effort to design aftermarket furniture/accessories. Hopefully there's some dedicated gun nut out there that still will. I guess wait and see how it looks in their upcoming "media coverage."

Definitely keep track of all the incentives offered.....one extra mag and sling from last import.....now a 50$ credit (so basically 2 more mags)

And like they say this could be only import of these rifles EVER

To be honest I think icelink is the one that scared me into finally committing to my pre-order. TI are you listening? Give that man a raise!

Hey man I've dealt with nick for years before TI became a business and I waited close to 3 years for a Phoenix BXP and a BRS 99 when they first came to canada......the Phoenix BXP will never come to canada again (could this be the case fornthe type 81?)....with this announcement for production in July this doesn't even bother me one bit......it only makes think of buying a second.....if you are short on cash or wanna pull out just make the call and get you money back....I know how these pre orders go.....personally if I took my pre order money back I'd just piss it away on ammo....and most likely not ever hop on board for a type 81 again

I think you misunderstood the tone of my message, I have no problem waiting and have no plans on pulling out at this time. I'm just poking fun at the situation. Plus you did just make a fair point that $50 credit can go to some more mags.
