Who is going hunting tomorrow morning...(Updated - new 4 hoof Player & 4 paw Mama)

I got up and went hunting as I do every morning...looked out the back door first, a momma and her twins about 60 yrds out...walked to the dining room/kitchen window and the wife pointed out 4 more does laying in a small bush 40 yrds out from the house...nothing out the south front door...oh well 2 out of three ain't bad.

I've had 12 different bucks thru the yard in the last 3 weeks all but 1 were forks up to medium 4x4, the biggest was Thursday morning, a very heavy 4x4 that will go 170 or even possibly up to 180 mule buck walked by the house and out across the field...he was very shootable but we have a lack of comparable gene pool to him so he walked...but he doesn't want to try that after the rut is over...if he hasn't bred a bunch of does by then he's to f#k'n lazy and deserves to be taken.

It'll be 'partridge up' approx 1400 hrs tomorrow afternoon if it ever stops raining.
Kinda stay clear of the bush on weekends and hunt the week days when there are fewer people.
The moose calf hunters are out and about now desperately trying to fill that freezer with their limited hunting season.
One of the extended family got a nice spike bull and that's enough meat for us.
The afternoon is best when the partridge (grouse) come out on the roads for gizzard gravel after a days feeding on leaves and berries.

But it'll do :) i

Well I sat the blind tonight and watched a doe for 20 minutes at last light. She kept on looking in the direction of the demonstrative "crunch crunch crash crash" that started 5 min's after sunset. Character didn't show. I know who it is and we call him Crabby as he has a pair of crab claws on his noggin. I had him close to final destination last night on a walk and stalk but he went left instead of right and ended up in front of my neighbours picture window.

Anyways, tonight, after the bang/crash and the doe staring in the direction of the sound, my hands went stiff in the -5 and holding the bead of the 870 in the direction of where Crabby should / might come out. I moved and my wrist cracked - the doe acted like it had been tazed and teleported out of the kill zone with 3 bounces. I was left in the "light enough to see a bit and too dark to shoot anything" friend zone.

Heading out tomorrow earlier than today. Alarm set for 5:45.

So this is a new player...

Brave enough to take on 4 coons...

And definitely Buck enough to put this poor teenager in his place....

Regrettably, neither the island monster nor the teenager showed tonight. Although a doe did and that was cool from 4:20 till 4:40. BTW, date on the trail cam is incorrect. Time is off by one hour....

Loaded up and ready to hit the road tomorrow morning. Heading up to 6-9 on a solo hunt. Have the bull moose draw till nov 15 in a group with 1 other hunter my buddy\s son that he asked me to put in with..... and they both bailed last week. I have to shake my head sometimes and this is the third year his kid has fuggered up our hunts. He's not a kid really, he's in his mid/late 20's.
Last year i had to go solo too.....
but I'm going and it's gonna be fun LOL

Just spent Friday to Tuesday in 3-37 moose hunting. Not a single moose or 4pt mule buck to be seen thus far. Hopefully the boys that didn't have to come back to town for school will see something between now and the weekend when I head back up...

I'm back from hunting, nabbed a young bull. 3 points on one side, 4 on the other hehhehe, no trophies but the quarters weighed 398lbs. Couple local native fellas out doing thier firewood runs helped me quarter and load it up. That was a huge relief and I was thankfull for the help.

No doubt! Id be plenty happy to get even a small bull. I'm heading back up there shortly (had to go to school first thing, I'm otw to my truck now) so hopefully the boys will have spotted something by now.

It snowed on the 2nd, and the spot I really want to hunt is up at like 1700m and our trucks can't get there. I might go for a long hike Sunday, especially if truck access is still impossible. I saw a crap load of tracks in one spot, 3 days old at most due to the snow, I might have to go sit there for a few hours too... (I love hunting where the trucks can't go, even if it's hard work)

Congrats King! Lucky to have extra hands available eh. Suther, I have been checking it daily. Grab it after the morning session. It's fun to go through the pics with kids over breakfast.

you headed up to region 6? I was in 6-9 and got mine in a newish cut kinda near the old man lake area. Seen a reasonable amount of sign around and nice that I didn't have to drive in to my usual spot out by nadina.
now..... I gotta start scouting some new areas for big mature Mulies as my camp of 20 years down in 3-30 is nothing but a pile of ash and burnt off pecker poles for trees. Some of the big meadows survived but don't think I'll be hunting back in there for many years.

Went out with my youngest son today, left at 0530, got home at 2030. Two bull moose, one cow with a calf and another 36 white tail
deer, mostly does with fawns and a few small 3 point bucks until 10 minutes before end of legal light. Then two small bucks and a 145
class, 5x5 at 175 yards. He's cooling in the garage, hard to judge his rack because of the willows behind him, regardless I am happy
with him. I couldn't get a photo, my cell phone battery froze on me. Regardless I can't upload photo's with my setup. Another great day.
So far since November 1st we have seen 128 deer on our property. I have no doubt many of them are the same deer over and over
again. The only really big bucks we saw were while driving out before legal light, and in areas where we did not have any permission
regardless.

Still working the last of the bear here Buddy.
Can't make it today, but will be wandering tomorrow For Sure!
New 4x4 on trail cam looks pretty damn sweet ;)

Will stop by for a BS & Brew session on the way out Camster...

Best of Luck tonight!
If you see the new blackie Boar that has moved in, nuke him Bud!
Tagged one of my cameras the swine.

Cheers,
Nog
