Who is selling decent new SKS rifles?

Yes. The AR15, AK47, SKS, etc. have chrome lined bore NOT BECAUSE OF RUST - though that is an added benefit.

Chrome lining damatically decreases throat erosion and virtually doubles (or more) the life of a service rifle barrel. ;)

Holy crap!! and here I was sitting in my nice little world of chrome-bore-for-corrosive-ammo thinking :) My dinky little chicom with a chrome bore now seems less primitive

For some reason I figured chrome would wear fast; after owning a Pathfinder with chrome bumpers (and eventually, rusty bumpers) I figured chrome was not all that resistant.

Thanks for educating me ;)

Just don't drag your SKS down any snowy road salted streets in Quebec and you should be fine. :D

picked up a chinese sks from hunter sports in surrey b.c.
all matching numbers and covered in cosmo (not a Norinco parts gun). they had a dozen or so when i was there but the fellow at the counter said they were goin fast.

I think someone mentioned it already, but SIR is selling Factory 26 milsurp SKS's w/threaded barrels for about $160. I got one about 1.5 months ago, and I'm very impressed, numbers matching, razor sharp rifling, etc etc, yadda yadda. It went straight into a fiberforce stock, which some consider blasphemy, but the fact remains that it's probably the best deal going for high-quality chicom SKS. Just my $0.02 :D

..im looking for AK/SKS-D mags in all sizes, 5/0..5/20..5/10..and 5 round, thanks.

also try lever arms in vancouver after you visit hunter sport, check and compare , handle the rifle and then decide. at lever arms the regular sks is $149. cant lose at that price, like my son said it is cheaper than his airsoft rifle.

I'll let you know how good the S.I.R ones are, I ordered one yesterday, they had just over a hundred of them in stock. Marstars told me they are getting some new ones at the end of the month(pinned barrel) and I could not find anyone selling anything else other than chinese ones. Cost me $191 tax and shipping included to Que.. LOL then again I have like zero experience in these rifles to give ya a fair judgment on it. As long as it shoots fast at a running deer, and fairly accurate at 50 yards I will be happy. I also like the look of the Yugo's, but I figured why spend the extra cash when its gonna get all scratched up in the woods anyway.

Read this article regarding pinned barrels vs. threaded barrels; http://www.simonov.net/uberthread.htm
Pinned barrel SKS's aren't junk. Particularly if they're milsurp and not new Norinco's, they're every bit as high quality as threaded barrel chicom SKS's. Watch for hodgepodge parts-bin hack jobs, though!! Eos has pictures of what to look for, and what to avoid. I'll try to find them, they're in an old thread somewhere...

Edit; I found the thread w/pics of the pinned/threaded barrels that were faulty and causing headspace problems. Check it out; http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=80010

Short answer; No. At least, until the current stock of SKS's is sold out at SIR. You stand a better chance of getting a threaded barrel milsurp/arsenal refurbished/unissued chicom SKS from SIR Mailorder than you do from Lever. When I checked out the SKS's from Lever Arms, I noticed that a lot of the part numbers didn't match, and the barrel joint (where the barrel goes into the reciever) had a little collar around it, not like the bad batch that surfaced a year ago, but definetely not like any of the pinned barrel pics I've seen around the assweb. They're probably shooters, but caveat emptor, if you know what I mean ;)

BMWHOCKEY....not having ordered a sks from SIR, i cant answer what you would get from SIR , i guess we have to wait when HEAVYBULLET gets his . but im very happy with the sks i bot from leverarms, since i bot mine in person i was able to go thru what they had on the rack, asked questions about matching numbers, threaded barrels and so on, handle a few sks and then picked the best one of 6 that was there.

if you didnt like any of them then leave and come back another day, i assume leverarms also has 100s in inventory, and they are fast movers so the sks on the rack is always constantly changing.

btw, if you do buy a sks from lever, dont forget to pick up a case of czech ammo for $159 , thats a good price. and read up on how to open the sealed case on this site , i find a needle nose pliers does best, it opens it like a sardine can.
