Who is Using a 28 Gauge, This 2025-26 Hunting Season

She sure is a great little gun- the 2 1/2" chambers I think turn most people off.

Agreed. However, I rather like the short chambers. Trim plastic hulls to 2 1/2” and roll crimp or do as I do and shoot magtechs. BTW, I bought 2 16ga sxs from there and both were 2 2/2” chambers but when I hit them snd put a chamber gauge in, they are both opened to 2 3/4” so that Gallyon could have been lengthened to 2 3/4.

Yeah, to us vintage gun shooters and hand loaders 2 1/2" is not a deterrent at all.
My Westley Richards box lock is the same , marked as 65mm, but when measured , the chambers are 2 3/4" - although my Briley Side kicks won't quit allow the breach to be closed on it.
I am still at a cross roads on which one to buy, but I sent a note to Denis about the Gallyon.
A little 28 Mini Bobwhite is still calling to me though ! LOL

A new 28 Bobwhite will still be available a year or two or more down the road. This Gallyon when it’s gone it’s gone. Like I said (or I think I said) if it had hammers it would not be there, it would be in my safe already. Whatever you choose you can’t go wrong with either. I have a bobwhite in 20ga and it is nice. However, I don’t care for screw in chokes.and will be given to one of the grande sons as soon as I find my hammer replacement, preferably a nice Damascus 2 1/2”. While they are no British prewar sxs, they are a good choice especially for the price point.
