28ga sxs hammer (Verreese & Oste) for rough grouse.
I do like using it more than my Citori in 28. I just really like and shoot SxS better than O/U. Doom's SSG got me loving the side by side so there's my tribute in the name, but I have multiple 28s in the safeNothing wrong with your gun,doomed28g.It will bag birds out as far , as guns costing much more.
Just wondering how you came by your sign on name?
Makes sense to me ,warsaw. They are like a good looking woman I love the one that I have my arms wrapped around I love them all . I am still looking for a Win 37 steelbuilt single neat guns but hard to find.
that would be an awesome gun.Not many using hammer guns any more.any chance of seeing a picture?28ga sxs hammer (Verreese & Oste) for rough grouse.
I as well like a SXS over an O/U.I do like using it more than my Citori in 28. I just really like and shoot SxS better than O/U. Doom's SSG got me loving the side by side so there's my tribute in the name, but I have multiple 28s in the safefavourite gauge by far.
In the past I used the 28 gauge on ducks a bit. That was when lead was legal.I've had three 28's over the years, first one was a Remington 870 but it had ejecting problems so I got rid of it.
Second one was a Mossberg semi auto and my current 28 is a Stevens 555 O/U.
The 28 gauge is my favourite for chickens but never tried it on ducks. There isn't many ducks here in the foothills anyway.
Sounds like a good choice to me.I’d like to join the 28 club this year, but I probably won’t be getting anything before next summer. I think its going to be a sxs with double triggers and removeable chokes. I’ve been eyeballing one of those Huglu minis.
Not great pics but……it’s the perfect gun for grouse in cover with its 25 1/2” barrels, IC/full, and tipping the scales at a whopping 4 pounds 5 OZ. OK, IC and MOD would be better but it is beautiful just the way it is IMOthat would be an awesome gun.Not many using hammer guns any more.any chance of seeing a picture?
I have 2 stardard grades, LeBarons was blowing them out the door for $750 each. How could you say no… then i have a Ducks Unlimited one (modified choke) and then several of the high grades with fancy wood and gold birds on the receiver. I gifted one to my son with an incredible stock (looked like birds-eye maple) and the little bugger sold it to a very generous guy with deep pockets. He regrets it and Ive almost forgiven him after 15 years. lolMr Bill are the Japanese Model 12 28 gauge guns you have, Grade I or Grade VI?In the past I had a Grade I.
None better in my opinion ,for partridge (ruffed grouse) hunting.Once you get one I doubt you will limit yourself to just one.Our local CTC has a k rap pile of 28 ga ammo but no .410 so I have been keeping my eye out for a cheapish 28 ga but have not found one yet. Figured they would be a great grouse gun.

….i knew a gentleman that collected ORIGINAL Model 12’s and I think he had over 30-40 of them…was a tobacco farmer with lots of money, I think he passed away a few years ago….wished I was in his will.
The Browning/Winchester Model 12’s are excellent shotguns. My friend from Virginia just sent me a picture of a high grade 28g at a gun show…asking $3,000USD…
