Who is Using a 28 Gauge, This 2025-26 Hunting Season

That is one beautiful gun you have there, reddog.Hope I did not cause it to rust ,drooling all over it.:)

I have an original Model 12 28 gauge as well.It is a field grade with a full choke.Have used it from time to time afield ,to bag some partridge and rabbits.:)

What other 28 gauge gems do you have?:)

My 28's model 12 Had a browning model 12 in 28g but it has moved on as well., Beretta A400 upland in 3",1148 Remington, Huglu single shot, oops nope that one is now gone.

The 410 is fun for skeet, I shoot around 3000 every year, but for hunting, I would never bother with a 410. The 28 and 20 do everything better for hunting.
Back in the mid 1980's I used a Winchester Model 42 .410 for two years on partridge.Put it aside after that and went back to the 28 gauge.:)

In the past, I had a Remington Model 11-48 skeet gun with a vent rib. With Remington Express number 7 1/2, it gave the best patterns of any 28 gauge that I have ever patterned.

What choke is your 28 gauge Model 110-48?

Not very many bunnies outside the city down here. Between coyotes Hawks and no cover its a hard hunt. Its easier to shoot deer here than bunnies
That's most interesting that deer are easier to hunt there than rabbits.:)I know at times here ,when the snow shoe hare (rabbits) numbers are down rabbits are almost impossible to get.

Im in the southern most west tip of ontario. All flat crop land. Only small sporadic wood lots. I grew up hunting cottontails with hounds but now wood lot after wood lot get bulldozed down and no ditch is left untouched. Lots of bunnies in the cities though. Its the only place they have cover and protection. Deer on the other hand are all over. A short country drive in February its common to see well over 100 and some evenings 200 when they yard up together for the winter
Most upland bird guns down here get used for skeet or farm released pheasants

100 to 200 deer. That is a lot of deer indeed.Sorry to hear of the lack of places to hunt upland game.Seems that is becoming much the same story in many places.:(

Yes, I’m using a 28 this year & for the last few years! For the 28 ga and any gauge in a hunting situation, know your gun, know your abilities and know your distances! I’ve been using Bismuth & Tungsten.
Cheers,
RSR

Love the 28!
I have a Winchester Model 37A and a Benelli Ethos in 28 ga. Wish Benelli would build a LH SBE III!
My wife managed to wrangle my Rem 100 sporting 28 away from me...sold her Rem 870 Express so she could do it, as my shotgun was "prettier" than hers!
I gave my daughter a Cooey Model 84 in 28 ga I had picked up, after I found my Model 37A.
My mother has now bought herself a CZ pump n 28 ga and is loving it.

We are all using them for ptarmigan, ruffies, spruce hens, sharptails, and duskies. I have taken a couple of snowshoe hares with mine over the years.
My mother got her first snowshoe hare with hers this fall, and I got my first greenhead this fall too.
