Beautiful 28g shotgun, our gun club president just bought the same baby for himself as a Xmas present.
I honoured his point/purchase with my own 28g Benelli in the Sporting Clay version. Xmas was good !!!!

Im a Benelli fan, have been shooting variants for the last 25 years or more. Never had one ‘break’ on me, can’t say that about my Remingtons 1100’s & 1187’s. Our Prez knows his stuff, actually won a trophy at a world shoot in skeet in Texas in the last year or so. He loves his Benelli 28g so much that he wants to buy mine also !! I like mine a lot… okay I love it !!!! But what do we know because the Turkish fan club think their stuff is superior. Blah, blah, bs…

The only real negative comments I hear about Benellis in general is that some shooters just can’t get comfortable with the different recoil sensation (gas vs inertia) of Benellis, even in the 28g.
My ONLY neg ‘thing’ is that the semi spits out those expensive 28g empties on the ground near my feet and all the club members down on their hands and knees fighting for cases create a tripping hazard.

I have read that the point of aim is off on a lot of the 28 gauge guns ,the rib is loose and that they have trouble ejecting the lighter loads.

Nice to hear that you two are enjoying yours. What do you usually use for ammunition in them?

Ours function 100% with Rem factory target loads and quality reloads. I’ve heard rumour of ribs falling off but my experience is that Benelli shotguns pattern usually dead centre left to right and flat but up to 60/40 high depending on how some people stack their beads. Ive watched many shooters that say their guns pattern ‘somewhere’ else just have a bad case of flinchitis, but will never admit it. lol

Could very well be right about the flinchitis.:)

What colour are those 28 gauge Remington shells?Seems to me that I saw or read somewhere ,that some of their 28 gauge target hulls were gold colour.

These are an emerald green in colour. Compression formed so better for reloading in my opinion. Same as the old AA cases. Most empties are polyformed (tubes) now.

I have a box of the emerald green shells as well.Did you ever see gold Remington 28 gauge shells?

The STS green in 12 20 28 and 410 are great compression formed hulls along with the Remington wads make for great reloads but the 410 and 28 hulls have a early crimp life they burn out quickly. Was lucky enough to purchase Remington wads and flats of 12, 410 and 28 before the big price increases and before they disappeared on the market. Only Gold I ever saw were 12 gaugetrap loads i have a few flats of those.

The only gold coloured cases I saw were 12g Remington Nitro Gold which I used in turkey shoots back in the day. Now everyone shoots WinAA Silver Bullets in 12g, 1-1/8oz #7-2/2 ….superior long distance performance over just about everything else….in turkey shoots.

Just wondering if you and your friend, have ever tried 3 inch 28 gauge shells in your Benelli self loading guns?

Not a believer in 3” loads in anything other than a 10g reduced reloads in 3-1/2 shells.
Just had breaky with a buddy. He remembers buying 10 flats(2 years ago) of 28g and 410 Remington shells with gold cases. 1300ft/sec and cases were splitting.

So you never tried firing a 3 inch shell in your 28 gauge guns.:)Believe I would have to myself, even if I did not plan on using them much or at all.Would just want to see what they would do.:)

I believe the 28 gauge Remington gold hulled shells, are Remington Nitro Clay .Have never seen any myself.:)

Did the gold hulls your friend had split upon firing the first time or after being reloaded?

^^^they split on the first firing. He sold them all right away. Totally useless for reloading.
Interesting.Remington must use a different method of manufacture for the gold hulls, than they use for the emerald green ,that you use.I wonder why they would do something like that. From what I read, the Nitro Clay shells were suppose to be Remington's top of the line target shell.:)

From my experience with the old compression formed AA cases which in my opinion were excellent …whenever they ran into a batch that would split prematurely was always traced back to chemical formulation. I suspect the same with Remington cases. Back in the day I would mail back the split AA cases so their R&D people could analyze the plastic and tweak the formulation. They would send me a gift voucher for more shells.

I had some trouble with the 28 gauge AA shells as well.On mine ,the brass cases were split right in the box.Like you ,I sent them back and they sent a voucher for the shells.

I wonder if the gold hulls your friend had trouble with the splits after firing, were all that way or as you say, perhaps just a bad batch?Never had any myself, but would not mind having a few boxes to try out.:)

I asked if he had any gold 28g left for a souvenir. He said no and also mentioned that it took 14 months for the delivery after he placed an order ….he switched to shooting federal 28 gauge shells afterwards.

Probably a good idea switching, all things considered.:)
