I just picked up a H&R handy gun II in 44 mag and can't believe how great this little rifle is. Very light small and easy to use and the best of all is how well it shoots, 3 shot at 100yds are touching with hornady 225gr ftx, can't wait to hit the woods, just saying

My buddy has an older "Handi Gun" with a 20ga and 30-30 barrel. Its an excellent rifle. Another friend has a newer one in 500 SW mag, and while its a fun rifle, seems to constantly break open upon firing. Hope yours treats you well.

Love my H&R. Got a customized combo-barrel setup; a .44 magnum with peep sight, and a .22 K-Hornet heavy barrel. Can switch out from one to the other in about 30 seconds.

I want a shorter barreled one in 32-20 and 327 magnum with some fancy laminate wood and good iron/peep sights.
Have one in .223 - with an old Weaver wide angle scope mounted. Real good little truck gun. And for the price shoots "OK" but don't expect to win any long range competions with it. But then I'm biased because I'm comparing it to my Rem Model 7 .223 ... the "hell on gophers" gun ...
Might need a good cleaning around the breech, hinge and extractor areas. Mine did the same thing, cleaning helped a bunch. Would lock up tight with little effort on an empty chamber but would require the action to be slammed shut HARD with a cartridge chambered.
Mine's a .22 Hornet, loves the Prvi 45gr ammo.

Handi in 45/70, extractor model, 4 power scope...my main hunting rifle. Simple,reliable,easy to carry,very accurate and has enough oomph to take any canadian animal ( even trough trees if it has to...) Sold my 300 WM and 243 bolt actions, never looked back.
