Hey I got asked a question and don't have a answer for my buddy so I come to you. Is there any company making high grade rimfires. I know there's kimber and cooper but was thinking more higher end. Maybe like a merkel break action single shot or such. Even an elaborate bolt action. I've never seen any listed. I think dakota arms made a rimfire but they got bought out remington I heard so quality may know be an issue

It depends how much your friend can afford.
Or he is asking just for s&g?

Bleiker would be one of the top companies.

In really serious competitions you won't see "brand" rifles.
If any, they are shadowed by custom builds by some
of the most skilled gunsmiths/riflesmiths out there.
And these guys will not sell guns to regular people,
regardless of how much they are willing to pay.

Anshultz or Bleiker...if your buddy likes anatomic style rifles.
I personally would just be happy with a Kimber Classic 22.

The question is a curious one. Is your friend looking to have something super-expensive for bragging rights/pride of ownership? Don't see a question like yours much, most are "what's the most accurate" based on the assumption that hitting your target consistently is priority #1. I don't recognize every make listed so far, so I'm probably ill-equipped to even chime in on this one.

Personally, I'd be looking at the Anschutz site. If money were no object, all my rimfires would be Anschutz. I own a 1450 field-grade rifle and it's the most accurate rimfire I've ever used. Would love a nicer action/stock model...and one of their HMRs....

Had a chance shooting an Anschutz, they are something else, they could be #1 and no surprise there... JP.

We are both shotgun guys. He has money but mostly just curious. As in shotguns there are the "best" gunmakers. Holland and holland. Kreigofh I know I spelled that wrong. Merkel has expensive single shots in centerfire

Guess what I'm asking is what is the holland holland royal of the rimfire world? Exhibition wood. Deep relief engraving. Something majority of us could only dream of. I knew cooper makes great guns but there has to be someone who makes a truely high class gun

Feinwerkbau, grunig & elmiger, Bleiker, Remington 40x custom, Anschutz, Walther, Cooper, Kimber, come to mind. Suhl for sure, they only had two models and are sought after for accuracy. All the others still make New High End 22's.

The 22 world is mainly about accuracy and function over form, he would have to look at domestics for stock work, or buy a high end action from one of the above mentioned and have a custom stock made. There is no 'merkel' in the 22 world. If he wants the best the sporter weight Walther action with a custom stock would likely be very hard to beat.

Anschutz made some 150 year anniversary models which had fancy wood work and were good shooters. That was likely the highest end sporter 22 made in the last little while.

Wanna go big bucks and style ? Try to find a 40x Sporter , or an original Winchester 52b or 52c Sporter , or a Morgan, or a Kleingunther. Hard to find and harder on the wallet but real work of art.

Or why not a Unique t-sm?

Cooper, Kimber, Anschutz, Feinwerkebau, HK, Walther, Suhl, BSA Martini..... list can go on. This is without getting semi-auto's in the mix.
Or if you want to be truly extravagant, I am sure any of the "Bespoke Gun Makers" will be happy to oblige your the depths of your friends deep pockets.

The route I went was to restock a very clean Brno model 1 that would shoot one hole groups. I found a AAA claro walnet blank, had it done the way I wanted it, and I'm a happy camper. Not cheap, but it was what I wanted.

Were it me I would custom order a remmington 40x sporter from the custom shop and send them the wood blank of my choice. Very few of these are leaving the factory these days and they are one of the few north American rifles that can keep up with the European target rifles regarding accuracy. 3-3500 price range. Not high but not cheap either.
