Who makes the best Alaskan rifle today?

low power scope for a second optic might be your answer and there will be no difference. some PHs are using scope or red dot on their back up rifles.

I’m sure someone can be found to pick it up and ship it. How you can have a classified add that covers the second largest country in the world and refuse to ship is a bit puzzling.
 
I don’t know about Alaska but I’ve hunted as far north as Canada goes.
I carried an HS Precision 338 WM.
If I ever do it again I’d have no problem carrying a Winchester M70 EW in 338.
 
Lots of people like to day dream about big bores and fancy full custom weather proof guns for Alaska but the reality is most people up there (just like in canada) get by with over the counter rifles in 270-308-3006 etc. Even blued and walnut!!
 
I live in the Yukon, and I don’t have ss synthetic rifles! All blued and walnut!
The one coming will have a set barrel but it will be blue(ceracot) but will have some pretty de ent walnut with open sights!
Oh and I don’t own any magnums!
 
In the cold I like a CRF bolt that disassembles easily without tools so that it can be degreased to prevent the firing pin from sludging up.

And I agree about having irons.

7x64 is the magnum of the 7x57 ... at least this is the way they presented in 1917 in europe ...

A man can dream. I live nowhere near the salt air but still like the thought of a weather proof "Alaskan" rifle for my Northern Ontario hunting. I own the standard .308's and 30.06s....I got tired of hunting with them so like to try new and admittedly excessive options for my needs.
 
And now since having my discussions with Ruger even the 300WM and 338 WM Guide Guns are listed as "currently unavailable".

I must be one of the only few out there interested in this style of firearm..

"Best" would of course be subjective.

I don't have anything that would fit the description, if I did I would build something to my exact specs and preferences.

Would probably look something like this:

- ARC Mausingfield action
- Krieger/Bartlein/Brux barrel chambered by either Insite Arms or TS Customs in cartridge of choice
- McMillan Game Scout stock
- TT single stage trigger set to about 2.5#
 
I built a Yukon Guide Gun several years ago that I would consider to be superiour to any Alaskan so would feel totally fine about taking on a dream hunt
