FilthieGlen, I have a Remington 710 that needs a new scope. What do you recomend?

Yeah, I opted for just the rifle too, as I couldnt afford the additional cost of the scope in the package @ the time.

I was thinking a 4X32 bushnell buckhorn, but maybe Glen can guide me in the right direction. After all, he seems to be the guy to talk to around here...

You say more than one person needs a scope? No problem, contact Owen and he'll sell the same scope to as many of you as will send him the money. Then when it hasn't arrived to hunt with, you can practice your offhand shooting with irons! :p

I also wonder what other scope I could put on my 710 to improve it's performance?

I use my 30-06 Remington 710 for shooting out to 500 yards, and I get consistent, repeatable 2.5 " gorups with it as it came from the factory, with the Bushnell scope.

Although, I am shooting form a bench, over sandbags, not offhand.

The Remington 710 is the only rifle I own, and the only rifle I will ever need to own! :D

Don't sell that Bushnell Gate, its a classic. BTW, try some 150 grain moly match and move the target out to 1000 and lets see what that badboy 710 can really do 8)

A soup can with both ends cut out???

Take whatever scope you have on there now and put it on backwards. (That way, you'll have to be so close you're bound to hit what you're shooting at. )

I,ve to agree with those guys, who prefer Swarovsky,Kahles and Schmidt&Bender scopes,as i believe the are ranked the best there is.The price is,of course,an entirely different matter, but why not spent the money on a good scope now than muck about with a lesser scope.Eorpean scopes are top notch.

You're funny Gatehouse

But all the good glass comes from Japan anyway... so why would you spend twice as much for a name... the best of the best from Europe are using Japanese glass
The European Scopes are not any better than the best North American made models from Burris or Leupold... the European stuff only costs more here because of the duties and shipping costs... these top notch European scopes are very inexpensive to purchase in thier countries of origin

You'd be surprised...

I think there is only one Euro optics manufacturer that still makes it's own glass. Everyone else gets it form Japan, and why not? It's great glass.

Differnet manufacturers use glass of differnet specs, but most of it is Japanese! :D
