Who ports shotgun barrels in Canada?

Has anybody chimed in about effectiveness? I've never felt a difference myself.

I have fired JohnC's MagnaPorted 870 w/20" barrel.

Recoil was reduced by quite a bit, but the muzzle blast to those around you increased phenominally.

Oh man oh man! Which shotgun do I send in first? This would be just the thing for my 14" 870, bore is cylinder instead of the usual modified. Or do I build that shortie 37 that I've been thinking about the past little while?

I've had an 18" Vang Comp barrel on my 870 for about 5 years now. While it undoubtedly is a great solution for buckshot, it doesn't shoot slugs any better than the factory 20" smoothbore, remchoked barrel that I use for hunting. I can't honestly say I've ever done an A/B comparison as far as reducing recoil goes. I'm using an R3 pad and an Eagle cheekpack, so the gun doesn't hurt in any case. Also, had to do a bit of milling on the front sight base when installing the Trak-Lock, otherwise it would have covered a couple of ports. Not an issue if you're using a bead up front. So, unless you're looking for a specific solution for buckshot, which it works amazingly well for, I'm not sure the Vang Comp buys you that much. YMMV.

It's good to hear from someone that actually has a Vang Comp barrel. Did you notice a big difference in the spread pattern afterwards?

I just received a 14" Ithaca 37 barrel in the mail today. It's looks like it's cylinder bore so I figured the Vang Comp mod just might be the ticket for this gun. I've already spent double on the barrel what I paid for the whole shotgun so why not go the extra mile? This will be the worlds most expensive Ithaca when I'm done with it, and to think that I bought it for a beater.

Has anyone taken the plunge yet with Tactical Ordnance's Vang Comp mod?
