rhs said:I've had an 18" Vang Comp barrel on my 870 for about 5 years now. While it undoubtedly is a great solution for buckshot, it doesn't shoot slugs any better than the factory 20" smoothbore, remchoked barrel that I use for hunting. I can't honestly say I've ever done an A/B comparison as far as reducing recoil goes. I'm using an R3 pad and an Eagle cheekpack, so the gun doesn't hurt in any case. Also, had to do a bit of milling on the front sight base when installing the Trak-Lock, otherwise it would have covered a couple of ports. Not an issue if you're using a bead up front. So, unless you're looking for a specific solution for buckshot, which it works amazingly well for, I'm not sure the Vang Comp buys you that much. YMMV.
