Who s hunting with the classics this season

Wow!!!! What a beauty!!! Details?

It's a Frankenrifle. It started as a standard Husqvarna but it had a nasty split in the grip. The stock came from a gentleman in texas. The G&H scope mount was a gun show pick-up. The Blackburn trigger guard was for another project, but got diverted to this one. Rear sight was from a member here. Ed Von Atzigen in Peterborough put all the pieces together.

Thanks everybody for all the compliments.

I’m hunting with a classic this season... if 101 years old can be considered classic... goes by the name of Wilf, but I call him grand pappy... ;-P

So blessed to be able to share such a long standing family tradition with him :)

As for firearms, a 1955 Winchester 88 is about as classic as I can get.

Wishing you and grand pappy the best. Have a great hunt.

Yeah that's pretty awesome. He must have a lot of stories and experience to share. Amazing and I can only hope to be hunting at that age. Know a WW2 RCN vet who won a decoration just under the VC, turned 100 last month and still hunts. Still lives in the house he was born in too.

The classics are definitely capable. I own a few that I enjoy shooting; 1886s in 45-70 and 33WCF, an 1895 in 35 WCF and a 71 in 348 WCF. But for me personally, I prefer my 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen with a 1.25 x 4 Bushnell Elite 4200 with illuminated reticle. I have a Ruger Compact in 260 with a 2x7 as my second.

Although the classics are more than capable, I am just more comfortable with these than with the classics in actual hunting conditions.

Wood or black. Only 6 wood came to canada
Cheers

Sighted in an early production Model 1920 Savage in .250 on Friday. It is equipped with a side mounted Noske scope. Old enough setup that the elevation is in the scope, windage in the base. Bold picket post reticle. Fast to pick up. Guessing that the optics date to the '30s.

Classics

Contemplating hunting deer with this classic on Thursday:

Late 50's Sako L57 actioned North America Arms Grizzly in .308
Been happy with my groupings at 100 meters with the peep.
