Who the Hell is Black Box Customs?!

I popped in here hoping for a cerekote promo to stack with the glock 17 gen 5 promo, but instead, my new plan is to get a ton of work done, regardless of cost, complain a bunch until i get a full refund AND a 50% discount on future work... Glad you found your peace jackal... You guys should just lock this thread

We appreciate the feedback and we know exactly which project you are referring to. To give everyone some context, we admit that this project took far longer than anticipated, it was a project that required us to write new programs and test these programs before cutting into the customers slide. Add that into the pile of work we got from the cerakote promo and this was the unfortunate result. We never rush projects, each project takes a long as it needs to be completed correctly, especially ones that require services outside the standard ones we offer.

With this project specifically, we recognized that the lead time wasn't reasonable. We first extended a 50% discount off all the services as a gesture of goodwill, which jackal820 accepted. We also installed, tuned and test fired the M&P Apex FSS Trigger Kit free of charge. Once he received the firearm back, he noticed a blemish on the slide right where the slide catch contacts the slide. He emailed us right away about the defect, we offered to recoat the slide free of charge and cover the shipping to/from. Instead, he demanded a full refund on all the work, which we did. After the full refund, we still insisted that he send the slide back for recoating, since we cover that under our warranty. We've also extended a 50% discount on his next project if he chooses to come back. If you're still unsatisfied with your M&P we will replace it with a brand new one. Outside of that, we don't know what else we can do to make this right.

We try our best to ensure that every single project goes out without any problems. However, we are human, sometimes there are things that slip through the cracks. This is why we stand behind our work and have a no B.S. warranty program. We've worked on over 2000 custom projects since we've opened our doors and like we said to Jackal820, we've only ever had 2 other project come back for recoating. Jackal820's experience with us, is not our standard and when these things come up, we do everything in our power to make it right.

Whelp...sounds to me like you went well above and beyond and this customer is nothing short of an unreasonable prick. The customer isn't always right. Good on you BBC's for doing everything you could to "make it right" and then some. Some people will never be happy, regardless the lengths you go to. I commend BBC's for their transparency and openness here...it is to be applauded.

Haha full refund , I bet he's laughing about it with his buddy's . What an ass

I get Jackals frustration but I feel the BBC went above and beyond to rectify the situation.

Talk about a backfire. Instead of steering customers away, this experience has shown the great customer service BBC strive for.

Last post. I really just wanted to educate the consumer and maybe do not to order off there menu. And that they can and did screw up. And it was frustrating as hell. If that makes me an ass then so be it. And I did repeat they made an it right because I fought for it. If you guys are happy with your dealing I can't change your minds. And like all the other forums I have read you all circle the wagons on an opinion and someone's experience. But I still will not do anything with them again.

I very rarely comment on any of the forums or ongoing conversations here. I feel the need to share my experience with Black Box Customs. I had a brand new Glock 22 done by Black Box Customs.
They received my Glock 22 and I was informed it would be approximately 4-5 weeks for the work I wanted done which was the following:

1 The works frame package.
2 Recessed cocking serrations.
3 Tri-top cut.
4 Dragon snout top ports.
5 Optics cut and fitting.
6 Cerakote slide.

In addition to the custom work, I had Black Box Customs install an agency arms trigger, Taran tactical spring kit, ZEV magwell, Trijicon suppressor height sights and a Trijicon RMR.

After about 4 weeks I called and was informed it would take about another 2 weeks. About a week passes, Jay calls and informs that unfortunately there was an issue with the new program on the CNC machine and my Glock will need to be replaced with a brand new one. I didn't even have to ask, Jay just said we will replace it for you free of charge, but it will take another 4-6 weeks. He then also offers that for the inconvenience he will, free of charge include all work done to the slide.

This to me was amazing customer service and transparency from a business. A mistake was made, full accountability taken and they rectified it without any issue or me having to have felt like I "fought" for the end result.

It took a little longer than expected to get my Glock back when I did it looked amazing! I was very pleased with the end product. For me this boils down to a level of customer service I received from Jay at Black Box Customs was an experience I have NEVER had with any other company in any industry. They admitted they made a mistake, rectified the situation by replacing my Glock with a brand new one and gave me a discount on said work.

As far as I am concerned it was lucky for me the error happened as I got a GREAT deal on the work they did, which is quality! I shoot every week at my range shooting steel, the cerakote has not chipped or worn in any way aside from normal wear and tear. This was my 2nd experience with Black Box Customs and I'll be back again.

Keep up the good work Jay and everyone at Black Box Customs. You can't please everyone, there is always going to be someone with an "issue". It does make me wonder however, if Jackal0820 has ever been to a fast food restaurant and asked to "see the manager" in regards to receiving 4 pickles and not 3 on their cheese burger. Lol

All the best

Tony

If Jackals idea was to discourage business it has had the opposite effect.

I have been looking to get a rifle cerakoted and never heard of BBC until this thread.

Talked to them today and will be sending them my rifle to be done.

I have had Jay do three projects for me recently - mods to a Glock 17, a Glock 19, and a Sig P226. The work was done very promptly (faster than the original time estimate), and the workmanship was simply outstanding. Moreover, Jay’s creativity and attention to detail were off the charts. His customer service was the best I’ve encountered in any Canadian gun industry enterprise. Those on the fence should not hesitate to use their custom services. I give them my highest recommendation.

As for the OP, he’s of course entitled to his views. However, I am as picky a consumer as they come and my experience with this Calgary-based company could not have been any better.

Keep doing exactly what you’re doing Jay. I’m proud to be shooting Blackbox Customs pistols!

you do 2011?, Rodger just finished building it, tight fit but smooth slide to frame fit, will it be problem with Cerakote finish?,

We definitely coat them and the fitment won't be a problem. With the tighter 2011/1911's we'll mask off the rails so that you don't lose your slide to frame fitment. We'll also recommend that you send the complete firearm so that we can ensure the fitment of all the other parts. Our pricing includes the cost of disassembly, reassembly, fitting and shipping back to you. For more information please contact us at sales@blackboxcustoms.com.
