who would do such a thing?

I can see where this gun is totally practical for hunting and wild animal/bear defense in remote wilderness areas.

I am not a proponant of the pistol grip/monte carlo butt stock prefering the straight gripped stocks on Marlin lever guns.

I'll break the gun down as I see it's practicality... :)

If it was a blued gun originally the powder coat (or what ever finish it is) makes it almost impervious to the weather.

I see it has a Wild West Guns light rail on the mag tube so it is set up to take a laser/tactical light for defense against wild animals when in remote wilderness camps or hiking out after dark.

I am going to assume because the light rail is from WWG's and how the fore end fits that the stock could be one of their kevlar stocks, if it is it is almost unbreakable. It needs abetter recoil pad though I use Kick-Eez pads.

The Safari style sling makes the rifle not only extremely packable but ready for instant use in a defense situation.

The ghost ring sight system is extremely fast and accurate as well as the rail on top allows the placement of a scope for langer range shooting.

Who ever put this gun together put an lot of money and thought into it.

Is it ugly "YES" but it is one of the most practical wild animal defense rifles I have see in a while.

edit to add: I just noticed that the rifle has a longer mag tube for one extra round of 45-70 or maybe it is only chambered in a 30-30 Win and it is a stock length mag tube.

If it is just a 30-30 then someone blew a lot of money for nothing... :)

A chacun son gout.

I kinda liked it but then again this is my Marlin.

Now that looks good!! But that 'other thing'.:rolleyes:Looks like it would make a great club. Isn't that, or one very similar, an example of what someone classified as 'Tacticool' a short while ago?:puke:

Yeah, I saw the thread and got all excited at the title... I've been looking for a spikehorn.

Not exactly what I was looking for. I bet it would look a bit better with a plain (black) synthetic stock set though...

Camp Cook makes some good points.

Here's a pic of my Marlin and my T/C Contender carbine in 45-70 and a couple of 45 Colt's...

OK... OK... What can I say that green rifle is really ugly... :puke:

I put a sling on my GG, once. It came off lickety-split.
I also put a limbsaver on it. It came off real quick. Factory pad back on.

Sometimes, simpler is better.

I've played with this rifle and yes it doesn't look like my beaten up old .45-70 but it sure works like all hell for what it was built for- hunting in thick brush. I'd buy it in a second for myself but I'm 6'8" and there is no way I can make it fit. BTW Ever spot a guy you were hunting with by the wood stocked and blued rifle he was carrying? I know I have.

Park the steel, and bedliner the wood (with real 2-part catalyzed bedliner, none of this rattle-can crap). Ditch the useless ugly-ass rails up front and shorten the one up top by about half and mount an eotech in QR mounts. (imho) you'd have the most 'tasteful' possible tactical lever gun

'Tasteful' tactical lever gun? That's a contradiction of terms. All that's accompished (imho) is you've made a fancy club out of an otherwise useful rifle.
