who would do such a thing?

In regards to shooting and hunting forums, there isn't a more critical and opinionated crowd than Gunnutz on the intraweb. We have more armchair game wardens and rifle and scope fashion police than any site around.

You're right, that stock needs a bedliner treatment.:p

I think it's ok. Don't like the high comb on the stock, nor the sling and front "rail". Black stock and OD paint with XS sights was all it needed. Hey whatever floats your boat and makes you happy.

It is a cool rifle who certainly fill the need of the user's. I will like to be able to find some synthetic stock for a marlin, cos in the bush, that nice wood get all ding and scratch, I will wish to see Marlin introduced a Guige Gun with a Target grey stainless finish a la Ruger with synthetic stock, picatinny rail for a Scout scope and XS sight, maybe we shall ask Marlin for that, we can be surprise at the number of people who will buy such a rifle. And don't forget that someone with a lever who know how to used it can be pretty fast. FWIW

Sure they get all dinged and scratched, but what's a gun for? Besides, the scratches add character, it says "I'm not a safe queen". Just think, when you pass your gun on to your kid or grandkid, he can look at those scratches and dings and have fond memories of his 'pa.

good point but not every one wants to look like a cow boy this to me looks practical and coolwhats it going for any ways

Not bad.... Don't really like it, but it's no so bad... That's just this loooooong picatinny rail that isn't even used that bothers me the most.
