So I went into the store when my wife went shopping at Old Navy and was thinking on picking up a Lever 45/70. Get to the counter and wait...and wait ...and wait then some red head goof ball finally shows his mug and asks "What you want". Wow can you any less personable and sound so stupid is beyond me?? I say I want to see a Marlin 1895 45/70 lever with the big loop. He tells me its in the back and just stands there... I wait a minute and say "Well can you go get it for me to see " he sighs and reluctantly goes to the back and comes out with the rifle. Before I touch it he needs to see my PAL which he inspects for about a min( Think he was checking to see if it expired but was a slow reader) then hands me the gun. I hold it and get a feel for it then he gets all jumpy cause I dont point the barrel directly ahead at the deer heads on wall. At that point I set the rifle down and walked out. I can't believe how retarded the policy and the workers are at this store. For anybody who wants to be treated like decent person and not a 2 year old I implore you to not step foot in this shop. I guess this is why I buy most my rifles from Prophet River.
Does anyone know this big red head clown behind the gun desk?? If so tell him he sucks at his job.

**rant over**

I've had similar experiences in all the local big box sports stores. I seek out the smaller shops and give them all my business if they can supply.

Maybe he's one customer complaint away from getting the axe. Better to tell management about poor employees than asking someone else to "tell him he sucks at his job".

No Sale Sports /Calgary are the same manned by idiots who could care less about making a sale let alone helping anyone.............at least they are consistent province to province.................Harold

Some of the guys at the saskatoon store are pretty good and go the extra mile for me, and they know guns, not sure about Regina, but the boss in Regina seemed alright when he worked in S'Toon, maybe cause they know me. I don't think that they are paid all that much, so I tend to give them all some slack. If I like the gun and the price is right(less then the EE) I'll buy it regardless.

WSS Calgary has a mixture of decent guys, and idiots. There's this one old fat fudd that works there that will actually argue with you, and then make fun of you to the other staff after you leave. On the other hand, there's this shorter dude with a limp that only cares about showing you what you want to see. He's the guy I always look for.

WSS Nanaimo is way less busy, and has less guns, but you still have that issue. I know the manager there, as he used to work at Island Outfitters in Victoria. He sold me my first gun I bought with a PAL, which was an Enfield.

You know how you deal with these people, it's quite simple, because they're usually pretty robotic. You make a list of the guns you'd like to see and bring it with you, they respond quite well to an established set of directions. I found when dealing with two guys at WSS they just went in the back, got the guns, and then came back to get the next gun while I was looking at the one they got.

I bought some 22LR ammo in Walmart today and the dolt didn't even bother to ask for my PAL even after the computer screen on the till prompted him to do so. I didn't offer it.

+1 for the guys in Winnipeg. Howie and the guys have always been good to deal with, even when I'm not in the market for a new rifle. They always have time to say Hi.

Odd, was just in Regina's WSS a couple days ago. Some guy with dark curly hair behind the firearms counter was very helpful. He asked me right away if he could help me. Later, wandering by the electrics/gps part the girl behind there asked if she could be any help. This is my usual experience there, might help that I am a big ugly bastard so people want me to be happy:rockOn:

If the smaller local shops don't have what I am looking for, I only order online from the bigger stores. I had an experience like that at Cabela's not long after they changed from S.I.R.. Haven't been there since.

Wss

Always been happy with the service at the Winnipeg store. Guys are friendly and willing to talk guns. Maybe the guy at Regina store was having a bad day. Let the management know about rude employees.

I found that Winnipeg WSS gives fairly good service. But then again, if we compare it to Winnipeg Cabelas, then you could consider the fairly good service as absolutely outstanding. Cabelas is the low point of any Service yet, and the old SIR attitude seems to prevail.

I have found that Regina is not as helpful as they could be, and do not really go there any more.

I have had good and bad experience at WSS Calgary. I have had two good experiences of six visits. The two good ones were very good and I will deal with those guys from now on. I have come to realize that it is less frustrating to go there with your homework done and specific questions to ask. When looking for effort and opinion, I have left disappointed. If I know that I will need a bit of time with counter staff, then I try to go in the morning in the middle of the week.

As for WSS online, I will not purchase anything. Their stock online is not updated regularly. I have made inquiries for online purchase to be told that a "in stock" item is not available or not even produced.
