Wholesale Sports Regina closing by years end

Bought all my rifles from Darryl when I lived in Regina. He even brought in Volquartsen barrels and accessories for my 10/22 before that stuff became cool. Good guy.

He had a us d Boyd's pro varmint stock on the shelf at one time used for nearly 400 dollars. I was interested in it but asked him why it was so expensive as I could order a new one for half the price. He told me it was a custom fibreglass stock he took in on trade. When I argued the fact and told him it was wood he argued back. I showed him the website on my phone at which point he said well I will have to pull it off the shelf and I will be contacting the guy who lied to me when he traded it in. 2 weeks later, there it was on the shelf for nearly 400 dollars. That broke my trust and I would prefer not doing business there after that.

Back in the day there were several places in Regina
Field and stream, Carters, Gwen Davidson and Felsings ( on Park st) I few I can think off
All dust in the wind?

A store is a only as good as its management. Retail jobs does not pay a lot and if prices increased to pay higher wages & benefits people would ##### even louder and shop there even less. Maybe people would be happier if they could mail order direct from mainland China & to hell with the Canadian economy.

I remember before C-68 traveling through small towns in Southern Saskatchewan and almost all of them had a gun shop or you cold buy guns and ammo at Macleod's or the local Co-op.

I think there are still a few. Gull Lake and maple creek have been mentioned above, and I know the Indian Head coop has ammo. Pretty uncommon though.

There was a pretty well stocked LGS in my hometown when I was a kid (bought my 10/22 there when isnwas about 12 - well, my Grandpa did), over and above Macleod's and home hardware that both had some basic guns and ammo.

To anyone who's been in the Regina store recently, are there any deals on mid to high-end scopes?

Toying with the idea of driving down soon, but don't want to waste the gas for nothing.

I was in there recently and they aren't taking this "deal" thing too seriously as the prices on guns, ammo, reloading stuff and optics for the most part is unchanged. Their 10% off on powder is a joke when most of the powder has been marked up to over $50 a pound.

Optics were marked down 15% if I recall correctly. Had a display case of Leupolds if that works. I'd call first before driving. Talking to a clerk, she said the real deals will go on after Xmas. That is if there are still clerks working. She said a lot of folks already have interviews elsewhere.

What he said.

Amen.

I'm pretty sure optics are a pathetic 10% off, as are guns and ammo. "Accessories" are 25% off, and I think reloading bits are too.

I was there and optics are 15% off and a salesperson said everything will be sold and nothing shipped out so discounts will become deeper, but the inventory will be more picked over. I bought a remote beeper collar for my dog at 30% off an already discounted collar so there are deals to be had. By the way the remaining sales people were very helpful which has been my experience there for the most part.
