I plan on heading out this spring for my first turkey hunt. There seems to be so much to get in order before April 27 hits (Owen Sound, ON WMU) Just bought a new 20" Remington 870 barrel with rifle sights and rem chokes. Love it! Now I need to get a decoy, slate call, possibly a blind and some permission to hunt on a local field.

Can't wait though! Just want to see how many other CGN'ers are planning on gettin' their gobble on this spring.

Airspeed, you mean April 27 and i will be out there again.there's lots to learn so read and watch as much as you can. good luck and post your pics. Bucky

I'll be out in WMU 45 again. Hopefully with a little more luck than last year. They wouldn't gobble till I was on my way back to the camp, wonder if it was really just laughing.

Turkey season starts April 15th here in BC. Just got a 23" barrel and a turkey choke for my 870. I've seen tons within city limits this winter......just hope they"re easy to find out in the sticks this spring.

I'll be heading down to Montana this spring on our annual Turkey pilgrimage. Here in Alberta it is on draw and I didn't draw this year but one of my friends did so I hope to get out and help him as well. Hunting those things is so addictive. I can't think of many things I would rather be doing on a cool spring morning than watching a big ole Tom strut in to my hen decoy.

This will be my 10th season . I even book vacation time for turkey hunting.
Between a Win. 120 and a ol' Rem. Wingmaster I've been fortunate to take 15 birds so far.
My 1st year was a bust with no birds taken but it was a great learning curve .
Average distance has been 25yd and under.
I've taken birds from my doghouse blind but the majority have been sitting close to a big ol' tree .
My best call is a Primo slate I bought at the turkey course...10yr old and still works better than the other 20 or so calls I have...lol

My 870 is ready to go...turkey choke is on. I even have my backpack packed with my decoys, calls. etc. Another month or so till scouting. Too many birds around. Hopefully it will be one of those years where you can pick and choose which one you want. I still can't beleive how the turkey population has increased, over the past few year, in the Kawartha Lakes area anyways. You don't have to look far to spot them, they're everywhere! Hopefully it will be a good year.

I am so hoping to get out this year for the first time! I did my course last lear, but between getting time off, and finding a place to hunt (There is no where around here) I didnt get out. So heres to hoping for this year! And if anyone knows a place, or wants to help a guy out wit ha place, Please let me know!

Yup, saw about 25 birds where we are going to be hunting, they stick around there all year. Few good toms in the crowd.
