Furthermore, I think it will really help a lot of shooters up in Canada develop a sense of discipline about shooting. I don't like the hardcore, military "count every round" principle that makes shooting not-fun, but I do think it's foolish and reckless to just go out and blow off a few hundred rounds willynilly for the sake of blowing off a few hundred rounds. If the price of ammo doubles, I think a lot more shooters will take shooting quite a bit more seriously than they do now and that can only be a good thing for the shooting community.

Personally, when I shoot, I like to make every round count towards a specific purpose - whether it's improving my personal skill and technique, getting my equipment in order, or testing out a new load. I prefer taking a disciplined approach to shooting, and that includes being disciplined with my ammo consumption AND production.

To me this makes it less fun. Sure it is fun to develop a load or shoot seriously but you still have to go out and have a good time but doing some plinking at random targets. Taking anything to seriously takes the fun out of it.

I am finding enough but for .22 WMR it seems I have to hit a number of stores and then
I am buying what they stock so I have this safe with a mix of bullet weights and styles.
I need to score 1000 rounds of one good type so I can set the scope for that cartridge.

No problems so far, should be good for a year but when I find a deal I pick it up! Although when this is over, I WILL remember the suppliers who arbitrarily jacked up their prices and those that kept it reasonable!

I do that too - have fun plinking, but ultimately, there's always an associated cost to do anything, and ultimately it comes down to determine if the tradeoff of the cost to shoot is worth it. I enjoy a big blow off as much as the next guy, but at he same time, a brick of ammo represents about a half hours labour for me and for it takes a lot of the joy out of it to know I had to expend a certain amount of labour to do something I enjoy. Really, the best situation to be in is one where I don't have to expend any effort to cover the cost and while I'm not quite there yet, I will someday.

Because all of these posts and gossips people will buy and stock ammo for years to come. And then all of a sudden ammo will overflow shelves. Big supply low demand and ammo will go cheep. That is the moment to buy big amounts!
No wonder ammo prices are going up when you people are buying huge amounts in fear of shortage.
Bah, humbug!

I have enough to hold off the Chinese Army for about three months of heavy fighting. If it is just skirmishes, years. :p

I have never been bashful when it comes to buying ammo, especially when it comes on sale. I can't imagine buying one brick of .22 shells at a time.

I just bought 1000 cc1 br2 primers from whole sale sports for $54.00 and they had lots I also bought 3 lbs of varget that was all they had my friend in Vancouver is going to pick it up for me and bring it when he comes bear hunting in May.locally I bough 1000 fed 215 primer the had 10000 in stock. I got some barnes bullets for 50% off if I bought two boxes and the third for $15.00 I just would use them for back up to the 3 boxes of160 gr accubonds that I bought I should be able to hold out for a while.

No shortage here. Be thankful that you have to show a PAL to buy it or the Yanks would be up here cleaning us out. See the prices on GunBroker? Insane.

I was at my CT store tonight and there was a couple from Alaska.....Look honey, they have ammo here, don't see that in Alaska!

My prediction is that prices will fall down by December and if anything there will be a glut. But I also believe things will get worse before they get better.

I have more ammo than some third world countries so I'm not worried. Yes I hoard and you can be certain when the prices drop I will be be adding a whole lot more to my pile.

Actually - the time to buy was after the 2008-2009 panic subsided - and even then, I don't believe the prices actually ever returned to their pre-panic level (nor ever will).

I agree - the time to stock up will be after this panic dies down - but if you can get it at the pre-panic price WITHOUT GOING INTO DEBT, I think then is the time to get it because no one knows where the price will land after the dust settles (my bet is it settling slightly to modestly higher than it is now).
