Why 45/70 and not .458 Win Mag?

Oh man you guys are going to hate me for this but when it boils down to North America all a person needs is a short barreled 375RUM... :D

...tried it Cam! I sold you my ammo if I remember correctly. Went to the H&H, no looking back. In all seriousness, there is little difference shooting the two, except naturally the H&H is available in nicer rifles. The main difference I notice is that point of impact varies far less with the H&H between different loads.

For instance, all four of these loads shoot dead center, and group within a half an inch of each other at 100 yards with no sight changes:

270gr TSX @ 2,000fps

270gr TSX @ 2,650fps

270gr Fed. Factory RNSP

300gr Hornady BTSP @ 2,600fps

Ok, got some loaded up. These are Hornady 500gr RN, with RL7. Yes, the one round is slightly bulged but will be ok. I used the Lee crimp die so they should stay in place.

Now I just have to wait until the weather improves to do some shooting :(

You most definately sold them to me and thank you again for the deal... :D

I went from an H&H to the RUM because the H&H wasn't enough I wanted more and now that I finally finished my 21" barreled RUM I have the ultimate rifle/combo...

I never did have the hitting at the same point of aim with my 375H&H I always found the heavier 300gr bullets would high about 1 1/2" higher @ 100 yards than a lighter 270gr bullet but it wasn't an issue back then I only shot 300gr Partitions when I hunted and I have the same results now with the RUM.
