Why a battle rifle? Why do you choose to have and shoot them?

Why do I own one.......cause ive seen both red dawn movie's lol jk
But actually Its the history. just the way the action works is mesmirising. They fire what I consider a real cartridge. When the US army was in Afghanistan they pulled out old m14s Cause they worked better then the 223 at a distance. They are cheap. Non restricted. Ammo is available. You can add more acessories to them then the rifle is worth. What's not to love

Can someone explain why an SKS isn't considered a "battle rifle"? Not being deliberately obtuse, just wondering as to the definition of "battle rifle" since the SKS is also 7.62 and military-issued. Or is it because it only has the semi-auto option?

I think it is cou:

But I think battle rifle is a fairly new term covering bigger 30 cals.

That says it all! The SKS was designed to be used by Russian peasants that could be trained in under 5 minutes so that they could supply a large volume of bullets down range semi accurately under 100 meters while covering the assault of other illiterate peasants.
Pretty sure you're confusing this rifle with the Mosin 3 line which is well documented as being a simple, rugged rifle that all countrymen could maintain with little to no training.

Because the M14 7.62 NATO battle rifle is a Non-Restricted, VERY accurate and VERY powerful combat rifle. No collection is complete without an M-14 & AR-15 rifle.

I owned both a Springfield Armory M1 Garand .30-06 Sprng and an M-14S in synthetic CADPAT stock and are Amazing. Non restricted is a HUGE bonus. Walking around on private land a friends cottage holding my M-14 rifle with belts of 7.62mm NATO FMJ rounds strapped to my chest makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Those iron sights are almost as accurate as a scope in the hands of trained operator, and massive power of that 147 grain FMJ-BT @ 2800 fps is very impressive.

The M-14 battle rifle is my #1 choice, in synthetic camo stock and SOCOM 16 or Squad Scout 18" configuration to reduce weight, 20-round magazines of 7.62 NATO (in the real world lol) ....what more can you ask for? ....besides a 100 round Beta C drum of LC 5.56 NATO green tips in Burst/Auto fire, suppressed ;) ...one can only dream lol. F@Ck I wish I was born in Arizona....
