Why can't Americans buy Norinco?

Well with China's reputation in the US, there probably would not be a huge market for them. And people who bought them would be alienated from the rest of the community for "supporting an evil, baby eating communist regime". That alone would turn the average shooter away form a Norc. Am I wrong?

norcs are pretty popular base platforms in the states for customs if you have a smith that will work on the harder steel they are made of. when wilson did custom work back in the day one of the new brands they would work on was norcs

I remember reading somewhere that the reason why is because China does not acknowledge patents or copyrights so they boycotted some of the products.

It may be heresay because the patent on a 1911 is long over.

Clinton placed a assault weapons ban on imports from China in the early 90's. As soon as that happened, nothing made in China firearms related could come to the U.S.

Canada apparently is the only country who's civilians can buy CQ-A's. China doesn't make them for any other civilian market. (so I have been told)

Ironic, I know.
