The lock geometry changed from gen 4 to gen 5, all the grn 5 guns use the same locking block type now, so the gen 4 barrel won't work.
OP, buy a gen 5 19 from IRG. It doesn’t list what barrel comes with it but if you need the gen 4 cdn barrel buy one of those too and swap the barrels, sell the gen 4. Job done.
Huh? I'm confused...
If what I recall is true, the gen 4 locking block is the same as the gen 5 locking block on all G19’s.
Op wants a gen 5 Glock 19, and his complaint is that he wants it with the Canadian gen 4 Glock 19.
So how do we solve this problem? OP buys a gen 5 Glock 19 from I run guns (it doesn’t list what barrel comes with it). OP also buys a gen 4 Canadian glock 19, swaps the barrels between the 2 guns, and sells the gen 4.
OP now has a gen 5 Glock 19 with the gen 4 Canadian 19 barrel as he initially wanted.
Just "wait out" a bit, a Cdn G45 with the MOS is coming. 'Good things come to those that wait" Cheers
I understand your theory but I'll let you figure out how it can't happen (hence my confusion).
Why don’t you share your infinite wisdom with us, because I don’t see any reason why it can’t be done.
Just confirmed it, gen 5 locking blocks are all the same as gen 4 locking blocks when comparing the 19’s.
But neither barrels are 12(6) prohib.
Buy one and a threaded barrel or whatever from an importer. They can drop it in, and have a child frt entry made if someone hasn’t already.
Admittedly, I'm new to this. But is that not the condition that deals with barrels with lengths of 105mm or less?
The Gen 5 G19 has a 102mm barrel.
I think rommelrommel has the right idea: get an importer to install a compliant barrel before it even enters the country.
At some point during that series of transactions, the RCMP is going to be made aware of a prohibited device being transferred to/from someone without a 12(6) endorsement.
Furthermore, IRunGuns does in fact list the Gen 5 G19 as having a barrel length of 4.02" (102mm) and the RCMP has their own Firearms Reference Table which would have this info catalogued.
Talked to a Glock rep at TACCOM today and he simply said Glock has no current plans to bring the Gen 5 G19 to the Canadian market.
Of course, plans can change...
