I built a 338 Edge and love shooting it. Cost wise it isn't that much more because at the distances I'm shooting (800-1200M) I shoot less rounds in a day (going back and forth down range takes some time) than I do with my Savage VLP in .223. The Remington 300 RUM brass is much cheaper than the Lapua ($60.00/50) I also shoot my .223 out to 1000m, but it's not the same as shooting the Edge, but it`s a whole lot cheaper to go gopher shooting with the .223.
For long range rock busting the Edge wins. The other thing with the Edge is that it's a Savage build so If I decide to change calibers to say a .308, I just give Jerry a call and order another prefit barrel, bolt head, and thread her on and go!
