when i first got it, new, didn't like the feel of it. too..... hunting rifle like for me. i prefer a familiar feel, like an Ar15. anyways, first trip to the range, the hammer won't catch after it fires. goes full auto. kinda fun but a bit on the scary side when the rifle fires when you RELEASE the trigger after firing a round.. after a month, new trigger that was solved.

still feel like a POS to me. found a solution to the feel after i tracked down a stock. installed a Vltor stock. now it feels great, but there is of course a problem. if i rack the bolt back, hammer cocks. if i rack the bolt while depressing the trigger, the hammer follows the bolt back to battery. am i right to think it is the position of the trigger group too low, causing the hammer to go enough down, but not enough to catch the disconnector? dont want to start cutting up the stock and find out it is something else. ideas?

i am starting to think i should just part out the POS and move back to the poodle shooters.

bad pic of the bad rifle, sorry.

I had the same problem when I installed my M14 in my sage stock. You are correct in thinking your trigger is to low. All I did was file of a small amount of metal where the trigger assembly touched the stock. Your rifle also did not go in to full auto it fired becaus the sear did not catch the hammer. It is dangerous and it could explode in you face don't shoot it until you fix the problem.

Nice looking rifle.

x2 on not firing it till its fixed . It MUST pass the trigger test after assembly procedure. Remove a lttle bit of material from under trigger group area on the stock and do the trigger test again , repeat until it will pass the test.

1. #### the action and apply the saftey , test the safety by squeezing the trigger.
2. Fire the action and keep trigger depressed while cocking the action again. the hammer should stay to the rear .
3. Release the trigger slowly and you should hear a click , fire the action .
4. Repeat this test a few times to ensure it is correct.

Should have bought a Blackfeather.

These guns can be a bit much for people who did not buy it as a project gun.

Sorry it turned out like this for you, I'm sure there will be lots of people willing to buy your stuff.

I have a great rifle. GI stock, glass bedded, worked on by a knowledgeable smith, reliable and accurate. However, I too do not like the rifle and am not able to warm to it. It could be because it is not an FN. The M-14 simply cannot satisfy my desire for the FN. There I have said it and feel better but I still don't like the M-14. Totally understand the feelings of the OP.

Having to make adjustments to trigger pad areas is part of the process of installing a new stock of any type to any M14 type rifle. Not just norcs.
And I agree , if it's failing the hammer safety test... Don't fire it again till it's fixed.
Should be a minor operation to fit it up correctly.

Your Ultor stock is a POS... ship it to me immediately.

Maybe you could have bought 'Murican if you didn't spend all your money on WoT. ;)

thanks for all the kind words and thoughts. i removed the trigger and looked at the housing. it was slightly bent at the rear flange where the trigger lever locks into it. i flattened it out and now the trigger works properly.

Maybe you could have bought 'Murican if you didn't spend all your money on WoT. ;)

i did, bought a bunch of 'merican tanks :p

Bro sometimes the chemistry just isn't there

EDIT: I play wot

If you bought a 1911 and started changing the parts, you would assume that you would have to do some fitting. Try to adopt a similar attitude when picking up a Norc m-14. When I bought mine off EE I had to change out the gas system, that was bored off centre, and the same with the flash hider. Also, the rear sight was crap and the barrel was out of index. I didn't go into it with a build in mind, but it sure as hell ended up that way. In the end, when I take it to a match, everyone comments on it and stops to watch me shoot. Although second place is as close as I've come to winning, if ARs could only run 5 round mags then things would get interesting. Hang in there and work out the problems. In the end you will still have spent less then buying a different platform.
