why do IPSC people take disagreements so personally?

It seems like some people can't take someone else saying "I think that's full of ####" about an idea they hold dear... I mean, we don't always agree, but it amazes me how quickly that type of an argument (even a loud one) changes into personal attacks, questioning the person's knowledge, intelligence, or (more specific to IPSC) the contribution to the sport, etc, etc... I find it more humorous than anything else, but some people just take it to heart... Jihads all the way, it seems...

Try that. It works wonders.

No I don't you moron. How dare you just start an attack like that? Just who the hell do you think you are? Sounds to me like you are the one taking it personally.

*Just kidding... :dancingbanana:

I just have to shake my head at anyone who "quit" due to someone elses attitude..

I mean really............

It is a GAME.........have fun and if anyone gives you flack....tell them to drop dead!

I found I started taking things to seriously sometimes, which screws me up.
Nothing is perfect and you have to adapt. I figure if I can keep up at around 80% of the top shooters in Canada i am doing alright considering I bought my 1st handgun a few months before taking my Black Badge in May 2004.
So many things to learn; including what ammo works best in your guns, strengths and weakness's, how and what to practice; all while trying to get to know everyone and not step on anyones toes-which is something I have found in every sport.
But to quit because you are fustrated or sick of someone elses Bull#### is,.... well,..... bull####.
I ever stopped shooting it would not be for those reasons, although I have fun most times and enjoy myself, so I will continue. I find I do my best when I ignore or just don't think about all the crap, and shoot to have fun.
ie; I shot crappy all weekend at the provincials, lots of stupid mistakes. The last stage of the weekend was a field course, and i just shot not caring anymore if I screwed up, or what was going on around me, and I actually had a good run.

Screw you, buddy!

Everybody likes me! It's the f**king natural order!

Oh, right..why do you think we threw you out of Ontario and sold your skinny ass to BC? :p

I went through a similar situation myself. I was pissed off at a couple of people for no real reason, thought about packing it in and just wasn't happy. I had a couple of the guys help me out and put things into perspective....it's a game, no more than that, it isn't everything in life nor should it ever become everything in life.

That being said, like all games there are very competitive people and they sometimes take things too seriously (no one cares outside of IPSC). So what??? I'm competitive too and I think Omen, Rob, Slavex, Dan, Maurice, HB are competitive too. We may not always see eye to eye but we can agree to disagree.

Some people have to grow up and realize that even if they disagree there is no reason to get vindictive, hurtful or resort to personal attacks (kinda shows a lack of maturity if you ask me).

There is a scene from the movie Sharkey's Machine (I think) and he slams some guy's head into a bar and knocks him out for being mouthy. His partner says" Why did you do that". Burt Reynolds says "He was an a**hole." His partner says "Oh, well, if you went around knocking out every a**hole, you'd be doing it all day long."

It was somehting to that effect. It became one of my life lessons! :dancingbanana:

Omen, the world is filled with A**holes! FIDO it (F&*$ it and drive on!)... Besides, RobElliot isn't that bad!!!!:p

Oh yes I am. Wanna argue about it?

yeah I would say about 95% of the people ive met are really nice and friendly. The people who arent and are to wrapped up in their game .... well just leave them to it... Im there to have fun, and leave the serious stuff for 9-5 during the week...not on the weekends. The people I always shoot with are extremely competetive but super friendly...

I have seem some bad sportsmanship on a couple of occasions... who cares.. its probably not the game..they are probably useless ####ers in real life as well..

Bartledan is just here to extend his area of influence. sadly it's not working and we've just given him away to some street walking crack whores, maybe he can impress them? :D

Part of the reality is you have to be a very persistent individual to play this game. Course to get a FAC, waiting time, join a club, sport not looked upon by others as favourable and politics at all levels and take another course. All of this would discourage people who are not somewhat aggressive / motivated in nature. The net result you are going to end up with a group of people who know what they want and don't always know politically correct way to get it. Having said that I think this sport is comprised of some of the finest people I have ever met. Yes we do have some class A idiots but tell what game does not. Just ignore them because you are worthy to be in their world anyway.

Group hug Fixes all. Just ask IPSC1

I f**king hate all you guys.

oh, and HB: nice cliche, ass!

:)

BINGO !

in size but not in stinkiness. can't compete with some of those with "classes".

fnot long a ago one of the "classy" one crapped all over the washroom in the range house, not flushing, not cleaning. we know because we saw him leaving.

then he went to range and gave everybody #### about proper a shooting technique ( was something about shooting behind the cover).

i'll spare you the name, but will tell you it's one of the biggest one.
