Flathead Standard = .243 Win
Don't take it out too often, but occasionally it is the right tool for the job.
I don’t own a .243 figured I had that area covered with 257 rob and 25/06.

I got rid of all of my .25 cal rifles... sold the last Robert's a month ago... too big for coyotes and prefer 6.5's and up for deer and larger. I had the last Robert's set up for wolves, but I rarely get out for wolves any more and the .243/6mm rifles can do just as well when needed.
I wouldn't sell my 257 for a 243, but then the same could be said the other way around.
I used to despise 30-06. At the time I wanted only unique calibers nobody heard of. 30-06 was far too common for the likes of me.
Fast forward to what I call my “efficiency” era of firearm ownership. I went with the 30-06 as my primary long rifle cartridge as it checked all my boxes.
-Available everywhere
-accuracy potential
-decent long range capability
-ability to handle up-to 200gr bullets effectively
-decent shorter barrel performance (under 20” i’ll go with 308)
-barrel life longevity
-did is forget to mention that it’s available everywhere!!!
3006 is too newfie for me, so I'll never own one.
My current go to is a 300wsm, might build a second one.
given that folk from the rock are some of the nicest people you are ever going to meet, that comment makes no sense to me...

You'd have to be an albertan oil and gas worker to get it.
