Why do you hunt bears?

Another season to get outdoors and it's usually an up close and personal time in the stand.

Hunting bears holds no appeal for me. Haven't tasted bear meat that I like and don't like the idea of baiting. But to each their own.

Maybe I just need to get out with someone that has for passion for it.

I don't usually hunt bear. I buy a license every year though because if i have to shoot one in defense, i won't have report it to the MNR and run the risk of getting charged. Just clean it, tag it and give it to someone who wants the meat.

I would shoot a nuisance bear now, after having been through the problem before. And I would call them to come and pick it up.

I think I am going to get a bear tag this year, just to hunt a new game... unfortunately, i have to wait until fall.

shoot a nice young bear under 200lbs and slow cook a roast and I bet you would think it was a moose roast, just a bit darker meat.


I hunt them because its enjoyable, the meat is awesome and the thrill of hunting something that could be hunting YOU

I like the meat, always keep the skull and often the fur (I have a full mounted large black bear in my rec room), and I hunted them every spring until my government decided it was immoral.

My last was spot and stalk in Quebec. I can't wait for my next chance. The main reason? Bears scare me! Always have. I get a real thrill out of hunting them.

I don't really "hunt" bears - but they pee me off when they grab garbage from my neighbors house, drag it over to my property and spread it all over. So I shoot 'em, skin 'em, and stuff 'em

I would love to hunt bear in the spring; unfortunately we cannot do that in Ontario. I enjoy all aspects of bear hunting but really like coming to the bait and the bear is just outta site making all kinds of noises trying to scare you off while you re-bait.

Wish my province would allow baiting! I just spot and stalk. I enjoy being in the woods with my friends/hunting partners. If we happen to get something then that's a plus!
