Why does everyone give the axis a hard time?

So you have one and you know that all of them work and you feel confident to recommend them to the others?
Great.
Try talking with some gun stores employees who are exposed to the large number of these rifles.
They sure may have a bit different opinion about this, particular product.

The Axis is a cheap rifle/tool, plain and simple. If I only had enough $ in the budget to buy an Axis, I still wouldn't.
It's not because I'm a snob, it's because I don't waste...... Yup, waste money on cheap items.

It's the same reason I don't stick my head under a car supported by Princess auto "Power Fist" brand jacks, or use a Crappy Tire brand Multimeter when testing 600v circuits.

For slightly more money, you can get a rifle that's not built from recycled pop cans and melted milk jugs.

Accuracy isn't everything.......... And that's "Why I give the Axis such a hard time". (Which is the point of this thread btw)

For the 3rd time..... It's a thread about why everyone gives the Axis a hard time.
 
I guess I am missing out, rebuilt Willy's jeeps for ten years and never bought tools anyplace other than Canuck Tire. 20 years later still got most of them. But I still got my cheap Cooey, all my cheap 340s and bunch other cheap #### that still works great.

Cooeys were inexpensive, but not cheap. You see, even Stevens 200 was a good, basic rifle built on proven Savage 110 action that you could call a Jeep of the rifle world. Axis however is so cheap that it may or may not work. Just like anything Lada. Walmartization of the gun market comes with the price that many buyers don't want to or simply can't understand.

Give it a break already...may or may not work? FFS this is getting pathetic.
 
Yes. May or may not work. We didn't move quite a few of them to the sale floor in our store because of the obvious issues. They were sent back to Savage. At least Savage is great while dealing with any problems including the recalls. When one is handling hundreds of the firearms and can compare them side by side it's a good learning experience. Fanboys will just keep crying, but that's ok. Enjoy your rifle. Who knows? Maybe it's even going to last for quite a while.

You do know Ruger hired the the guy that designed the Axis to design the American.....Right?
So please stop. Ruger just basically improved upon the design of the Axis

Where did you hear this? Other then the barrel nut style of attachment there is nothing at all similar between the 2 rifles?
 
Now they not only go bang every time you pull the trigger, last 5 years and come with a scope; they also work after you send them in for warranty!

I take it all back; I can't wait to get an axis. 223 is the caliber of choice right? Bet I could take a deer with that; maybe even a black bear. Can't wait to get my axis and hope it comes back from warranty in time for spring Bear season!

I don't know if that was the same guy or not, but I wholeheartedly agree that Ruger American is the improvement over Axis both in terms of design and used materials.
 
Can't believe this thread is still going. How long does it take to figure out that an Axis rifle is what it is. A cheap but functional entry level rifle. Nothing fancy.
It obviously has a place on the market, there are 1000s of them out there. They are like a good many things in this day and age, cheaply made, mass produced and marketed with the thought in mind that when these wear out people will buy more.
Think about it, why would companies make rifles last forever and eventually starve because nobody needs a new one. In a world that revolves around profits the axis fits perfectly and in time (short time) you will see many more rifles like it from different manufacturers.
