Why is everybody selling their S&W M&P's after only a few hundred rounds?

I did this on 3 mags today and it took less than 5mins. Not sure I'd call them garbage just because you spend a few minutes making them work better. Lots of guys put talon grips on, doesn't make the gun garbage cause you had to put them on to get a better grip.
 
I sold (traded actually) my first M&P9 after about 5 months, then went out a month later and bought another one - now I've shot it so much it's virtually worthless (what's an M&P9 with close to 40K rounds on it worth?)
 
Did I say the gun is garbage? no, it's just a hassle having to modify the new followers. I had to do it on 6 mags. but thats so cool that you are so quick at doing it. srsly

Usually the factors considered in choosing a gun include a counterbalance of how sure you are you want that gun versus how much it costs. The lower the price, the larger proportion of buyers who can be trying that gun on a bit of a whim, and thus the larger the proportion of those buyers who will not be keeping it for very long.

E.g. I might buy a Norinco copy of the CZ85 in .40 S&W. I generally prefer revolvers and I don't shoot any of my guns as much as I'd like so my hunting guns get priority. I'm a bit curious about the Norinco clones in general and about the CZ designs and about .40 S&W so I might indulge that curiousity for under $400. I wouldn't for the price of a real CZ. If I decide not to keep a Norinco and sell it for e.g. 70% of the new purchase price, that's not as big cost to me as it would be if I did the same thing with a more expensive gun.
 
I've got about 6K+ through mine and it works great.

Heh, heh - it's seems to get better the more I shoot it - maybe it's me that's getting better ....
 
i have had Glocks for years.
then a couple years ago i picked up a mp9 when they came out and i fell in love with how it felt in my hand.
purchased one on the spot.

then i picked up the .45 and loved that.
then i picked up the 40 because i had some extra cash and time to waste.
then i picked up the .22 to save some money on ammo (thats what i told the wife!)
and now my 9 Pro CORE is in the mail as we speak.

the guns are just right.
price is right, feel is right, they shoot right.
they are just right.

i even have a hard time going back to my old faithful glock (took it out today actually)

but i would agree with most of what has been said above, there is just soooooo many M&P's out there that is why you see more of them for sale.
the S&W marketing team did a A+ job on getting them out to the public and then the range kit was icing on the cake.

i know my co-worker had a limit set by his wife.
so he has picked up a bunch of M&P's and then flipped them a couple months later with only a box or 2 shot out of it so he can pick up something new.

thank god my wife dosnt make me do that!

The biggest detractors on the M&P for me was:
1) Trigger....First time I went to shoot, thought it was defective due to the heavy trigger pull. Yes after a few mags, groups tightened up, but this is unlike many other guns that I have...Glock, H&K, Colt....
2) Magazines, can't get the 10th round in them without modification of the follower legs.

Other than that, the M&P is a fine pistol. Maybe those selling them don't want to mess with the trigger to make it a real nice gun.
 
M&P 9mm is my first firearm and I bought the range kit. Loved it! Shot almost 3k rounds since I bought it and thats only one and half month ago. I think I should really consider reloading. :rockOn:

Although the trigger aint the best but I figured if I can shoot good with it then I shouldn't have any problem shooting any other pistol. Tried a Glock and love the trigger over M&P's but I wouldn't trade my M&P for a Glock. Am also consider M&P Pro and M&P Pro Core for my future purchase.

As for the magazines, I am just really glad that I have the Lula Loader that come with the range kit. It made my life much easer and its been getting easier to load the 10th round now.

Dont really know why there are people selling a firearm only after shooting a few hundred round with it.
 
I bought a 9mm M&P Pro back in December and it was/is my first handgun. I quickly installed the Apex R.A.M soon after receiving it and was impressed with how much it positively affected the tactile feel and sound of the trigger reset (which was almost non-existent before). After shooting a few hundred rounds I purchased and installed the Apex Hard Sear, Ultimate Striker Block kit and Apex Competition Spring kit which is said to lower the trigger pull to about 3lbs when paired with the Hard Sear and Striker Block kit. The feel of the trigger is amazing now, although I may try adding some weight back to the pull in the future. Keep in mind that this is my first handgun so I have nothing to compare it to.

I put on a set of AmeriGlo Bowie sights (Green/Green) because I am a sucker for anything Tritium!

Perhaps I will post a range review sometime.

Sometimes people won't consider purchasing a gun because they don't like the looks, even though it is a great gun mechanically. When they see a new color, it may appeal to them and they then might want one for themselves.

At least this is how I understood it.

I personally don't like the look of glocks, but they are great handguns. (Or that's what "glock people" say,lol)
 
M&Ps are affordable and plentiful, therefore there will be more of them available on the used market than others. That being said, low round counts are an EE phenomenom- for every seller who advertises an accurate round count, there are 7 who stretch the truth and 3 who downright lie about it. Ask for plenty of detailed pics before you buy, and as always, if the price is too good to be true................well..........

I got my girlfriend a pistol for christmas, she picked it out. Went with the MP9, its a great gun, but she doesn't come to the range much anymore (which is fine), so I'm selling it. I shoot a glock, and prefer it over the MP9.
