Why is there so much politics in IPSC Ontario?

Surely a 'Shot' disturber.

I think I've seen this guy. As your shots fly downrange he shouts "go to the C, go to the C!"

Last time I shot I swear he shouted 'get the white one!' on pretty much every stage.
;)

In jest or not, that should be earning him a Penalty for coaching.

I think someone is just trying to be funny...

I have never seen anyone do something like this on the range during a course of fire no less...and certainly not Earl...

Now afterwards at the bar...say maybe the Hilltop for intance...everyone is fair game

I agree with Quigley, Tritium would never do that; However I do recall some of the good ol' boys having to take matters into their own hands after an outburst at the Hilltop.

I am new to shooting in Ontario but have been shooting IPSC out west for over five years now and have never run into issues I have seen here. At every match I have attended in Ontario, I have run into someone else's dirty laundry.

He won't shoot with him...
you can't stay on this range...
I won't pick up brass or patch targets when he shoots
I don’t want to be squadded with him
did you hear what he did last match?

Heaven forbid we use a little bit of common sense!
Why is Ontario, Ontario!!

I tried it 14 years ago when I got into shooting and the politics was there then and is still there. I have met to many "legends in their own mind" guys in this area and that is enough to keep me away.

I have only been shooting IPSC for a short time, I have shot 3 matches so far. There is definately politics, but I do IPSC for enjoyment and to improve my skill as a shooter and so I stay as far away as possible from the politics and other crap.

I have met and been squadded with really nice people so far, who were friendly and easy to talk to. Lots of shooters like to give advice on shooting, most of the advice I have gotten has been really good. Some shooters love to give recommendations on what equipment to use saying that XYZ brand of gun/holster/mag holster/belt is the best and than some of them a short time later are using something different. I just listen to what they have to say, thank them for the advice and take what I feel is useful.

My only complaint at a match was when I was on the last squad of the day and were waiting for the squad before us to finish up and most of them weren,t patching, it was not as if they were being mean or anything, they were just a really close group of shooters and spent most of their time talking and not patching. I ended up patching to speed it up, it even got so bad at one point that the RO started threatening them with procedurals if they did not start patching. This would not normally have bothered me as the shooters were having a good time, but this was the second match of my first double header and thanks to my job I had only gotten about 3.5 hours sleep the night before. So I was a little anxious to get underway, but once underway, I had a great time.

All in all I think some of it is the attitube you go in with. As I said above I do this for fun. Go out to have a good time and ignore the politics.

Hey Trit...I lost your email

What size shirts do you need again :p

I hope you look good in hot pink

Well, unlike you, Quig, I will need shirts that will fit my shoulders and arms. Since you have the shoulders of a carp and the arms of a jelly fish, combined with the belly of Buddha I figure you won't know what I mean.:p

Now, I am a nice guy but some of you who don't know me need to learn some manners (then again, some of you that do know me need to learn some manners, too). Play nice, be respectful and I won't have to slap you in the yap when we meet! Yes, I am getting more than a little tired of the short jokes (I have a thick skin but it's getting old). The lack of respect is kind of getting to me. I don't make fun of the fact that many of you have the coordination of retarded baboons with club feet. :(

Oh, and unlike some of you, I'm not brave behind the keyboard, I'll back it up anywhere and anytime you like.

To suggest that I would cheat or heckle a shooter is an insult and dishonourable.

Steve, you should come back out and hang with some of the rest of us. It's a good time and there are always quite a few laughs. Just ignore the politics.:)

...just curious....but:

If someone is being a #### head...or arrogant...or selfish...or is bad mouthing someone behind their back...

How exactly is that "politics"

It just means you met someone you should avoid...

It has nothing to do with politics, or policy...or IPSC in general.

OK, I need a reality check here. IMHO, you should be allowed to relax while on deck, and right after you shoot. Otherwise, if your squad is shooting, you should be helping. Ok, OK, I'm a fat ####, so sorry charlie, I ain't picking up brass. However, I'm happy to patch, set steel, paint, keep score, or whatever else needs doing.

You know, when you finally do replace that holster, I'm never going to let you live it down, right? You just married that holster.

:)

Did I mention any names;). I have no intention of replacing my holster for IPSC anytime soon, it works great for me. By the way congats on the upcoming Tanfoglio, too bad the Glock didn't work out for you, you really seemed to like it at Peterborough.

The Glock works fine for him but I think the Tanfoglio will be even better.:)

Dan is an awesome shooter who has really improved in a short time (heck, he made master in no time!) and he's fun to hang out with and shoot with.

You do not have to convince me. I know Dan is a good guy and a good shooter and I enjoy being squaded with him. He likes to razz me, so I like to get him back when I can :D .

uh oh, group hug time! you know we love you right Tritium? and not in the the, baby oil and diapers way either, but in the hit you on the shoulder kind of way (although the thought of you in diapers does make me giggle). Besides I don't know how IPSC1 can laugh at your height? he's no giant either ;). And I can understand you getting sick of the short jokes, but that's all we've got. you have no other weaknesses, so what the hell are we supposed to make fun of? Try being fat, now that sucks!
I also know that you are a totally honourable guy, one of the many reasons so many of us look up to you. (figuratively speaking of course [oh man that one wasn't even on purpose!!!;])

hey, now did I ever criticize your gun choice? Can't go much better than the HK!

What did I say "Buy one of the big 4: Beretta, Glock, HK, and Sig." I bought the least expensive, you bought the most :)

Now I'm buying a Tanfoglio... WTF?

The Glock is a great gun. Unbelieveable, really. I'm interested to try a really first rate single action trigger, though. And the Tan is so damned pretty!

Hey, hey, my floral shirt wearing friend!!!! I haven't heard from you in a long time. :)

It's a good thing that I'm such a nice guy and don't use my skills for evil! Then again one day I could just snap... LIKE AT THE NATIONALS THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!/QUOTE]

Hey, trit, looking forward to seeing you again this year. Doubt we can be squadded together tho. too bad.

Anyone who Trit couldn't get to crack at least one smile during the day would be in serious need of having their medication level checked. Funniest guy I have ever been squadded with.

(whisper mode on, hey Trit whats this Bartledan guy like, has he really become that good, or have the rest of you been dogging it so you can misdirect the competition. :p whisper mode off)

good luck this weekend, hope its close at the top of the production division.

Well, about Dan.... he's a sleeper (and not just at work either). I've watched his skills improve greatly and I can honestly say he works hard in training and he is passionate about shooting. He will be someone to watch in the future. He certainly earned his Master class and has been shooting consistently ever since.:) (Us old dogs are going to have to train harder I think, there are alot of new and good shooters out there!)

IPSC1 are you coming to the province of confusion this weekend? I tried to talk Angus Hobdell into attending the Nats but he's busy and can't make it. I was hoping you and I could have gotten squadded together this year too.. that would have been a blast!:)
