Why no Benelli MR 1 luv on this board?

It does look sharp with the shorter barrel and flash hider.

I have the plain 20" pencil barrel. I assume that it would be legal to shorten it to 18.5" and no less including any added on flash hiders. Is that correct?

If I can only shorten it 1.5" it hardly seems worth the bother/$.

18.5" before any flash hiders, unless you had a new barrel made with an integrated flash hider - then it can be included in the length (saw one for a Swiss Arms carbine that was really slick).

Was seriously looking at an MR-1 to go with my M4 Entry but just couldn't get past that super-long skinny barrel, looked almost fragile. With a 14" barrel it would be a must have for me as I only range shoot anyway.

Keltec su-16 look plastick like the little Henry Survival 22, but it could shoot good, who know, i dont like rifles that look like a toy, i will keep my's Mr-1... JP.
 
maybe not love, more like infatuation, but not hate, at least on my part. I owned a restricted model, nice form factor and ergos, good 223 semi-auto, bit expensive perhaps, and certainly not a Swiss Arms or HK, but if you want to have a nice looking and reasonably accurate (not a tack driver) black rifle, you could do worse than an MR1. never been crazy about the barrel length on the non-restricted though...looks funny and naked

well after having shot them both I would say they are in the same class both hit the paper at a hundred yards with about the same accuracy and both are varmit class firearms.time will tell if the keltec will hold up as well as the MR1 but until then ??

Collapsible stock? Clean-firing gas piston system? Rail options/expansion? Decent sights? What about ergonomics and aesthetics. This is what I'm referring to when I say not in the same class. If we're comparing apples to apples, the closest comparison to a SU-16 would probably be a Mini-14. There is more to a firearm than simply NR status (see: XCR).

That being said, the OP was inquiring about the Benelli MR1 and why there doesn't seem to be a lot of "luv" for it. If I had to venture a few guesses, I would imagine that this may have to do with the fact that it was only (originally) available in a fixed stock option, the front/side rail kit hasn't been widely available and that the collapsible stock combined with an 18.5" threaded (vs. 20" barrel) would have proved vastly more popular. I also know that the price point has come down about $250 as well - so that may influence future sales as well.

I don't want to start an xcr vs mr1 thread/debate here, nor will I call you a hater, but I disagree that the xcr is no more than a non-res status, just as the mr1 is more than a shotgun converted into a rifle (cough cough remington 7615 cough).

Why don't I show the mr1 love? i just about bought one, I really did, but there were a few things the discouraged me.

1) I did not want to have to buy more things from benelli so I could hang the kitchen sink off of my rifle.

2) the non-removable front sight and having to completely remove or clear the rear sight.

3) caliber modularity of the xcr.

4)believe it or not, after reading on xcrforums, seeing Rob arms interacting with end users giving troubleshooting and support was a big boost for me.

this is not saying either rifle is superior (please, let's not start this, only why I, personally, "do not show the Mr1 love".) however all that being said, there's always room in the safe for one more...

I'm unaware of the pitting issue; was this something isolated to the initial production run or is this a recurring problem? (first I've heard of it, to be honest - but I'm not necessarily up-to-date). "Converted shotgun". Good one. ;) (in fairness the MR1 probably takes lineage from both the M4 and CX4 Storm).

All fair points, although add-ons (1) are pretty much a given for any rifle, fixed front sights (2) are pretty common on ARs, etc., 6.8 SPC (3) does bump the price up, is expensive and hard to find. As for (4), after reading RobArms last 'fan letter', that pretty much sealed the XCR's fate for me.

There's always room in the safe for one more... until you get that second safe. ;)
 
A Benelli MR-1 in 223 and a XCR-M in 308 ( mid november would be nice ), i think i got all bases covered for my tacticals rifles, one of each compagny, this way i do not play favorite... JP.
