Why no more G36 and UMP's?

Problems with stanag mags aside...the prototype versions, which are of German production and not American, have been submitted with the HK stanag magwell, since that is the version which was submitted to the German authority for export approval, that is the version that HK Germany will be producing for export. It is marketing for the exponentially larger market of firearms enthusiasts that already own stanag compliant firearms. The tiny number of civilians that got their hands on G36 rifles and hardware will not be the focus and if they want to use the original G36 mags, they will be the ones to have to buy a magwell adapter.

I have owned 2 SL8 rifles and I would prefer the HK mags as well, I found them to be very solid pieces of hardware, but sadly that won't be what we see, as that is not the version submitted to the German firearms grumps.

It's just a AR mag wall made by HK

Simplely swap the g36 mag wall back then it take G36 mags again

Lol

'Xactly!

They will likely ship with STANAG mags, but any SL84/5 or G36 mag well adapter will work (for say: SPEAR or Magpul G36 mags)

I'm sure a guy like Wolverine can get the magwell as a spare part.

there are two models listed, how do you know what model is pictured in the article?

A prototype for either model for submission to the german government would have been produced in the german factory regardless of where it's final production will happen.

After the endless searching looking for info on the new civie versions, I found 1 or 2 articles specifically stating it was a stanag compliant version submitted to the German authorities. The US version is to be produced, for the most part, and assembled in the HK USA factory, from what I have read, and as such, does not have to be submitted for German approval as it is not being exported from their country. Although, all parts, if there are parts, being sent to the US factory for assembly, for use in their model, they will require approval for export. Those should be the same available parts as in the German model, so they will have approval from the green light of the HK Germany model that was submitted.

I'm really hoping these go into full swing soon as I really liked the way my SL8's shot, but didn't want to go through the time of converting them to be comfortable. I want one of these ones. Black rifles are addicting.

Although this is the internet and all the info I have found could be false or have been given to the people reporting it in a misleading fashion. Again, this is just what I found out and read through all of my searches. This is a firearm I am very interested in having and will definitely be in on the preorder when it happens to come this way.

Here is link to the German release with pictures of the submitted firearm.

If HK USA was it's own company then the above would be true, but since it is a German company with a facility in the USA, it still has to follow german law as to what it produces in the US or there would already be real G36's, MP5's etc available for civilian sales from the US plant to the entire world.

There were 10 of each G36's including the K and C models plus 10 UMPs each 9mm and 40 S&W. They were imported on a permit for theatrical use which was then used to sell them people. I owned one of each. A few years ago i contacted HK about buying some parts. They were less than helpful. The civilian model will. It accept the trigger groups for the military/LE models.

I believe you are totally right. I was asked if I was interested in importing some on my theatrical license. Not wanting to piss off HK and possibly get black balled I refused.

It looks great but does it really need 40 inches of rail?

I think the front rail it's shown with is an option (I think it was in the 'firearms blog' article it stated the IDZ buttstock and quad-rail were options), it will take any G36/SL8 forends and likely will come with the standard 6-vent G36 handguard.

Hopefully at the worst they will have a 'basic' and 'enhanced' model as the standard 6-vent handguard is pretty nice.

Good call, I think the guy that originally brought those guns in is out of business now as nobody would approve any End User certificates for him anymore. I mean, what a way to go out though; but it would suck to have to close up shop under those circumstances.

Shot show open today.

Looks likely HK has disappointed us again

Not a single word for the civilan G36 at all lol

Yep, nothin :(

BUT, I would seriously be more surprised if they announced it BEFORE the German Gov. has okay-ed it for public sale.

The German government can sometimes be worse than the RCMP - they were the ones that determined the USC45 and SL8 needed the "screws" to take the gun down rather than pushpins. (not a U.S. requirement)

I still say it's gonna be about 2 years before we'll see it on the shelves, I already know R Nicholls is talking with the RCMP about a submission as I talked to one of the Reps before christmas, but they have to wait until HK Oberndorf is allowed to sell the guns to civilians first.

Well it's getting really interesting now

I just talked one of my friend who went shot show
He said he just talked to HK staff on HK booth
and they denied everything about civilan G36
They also told my friend said your guys read too much hkpro

So i really dont know what is the deal now
