How come Remington has no real lever actions? Savage has the 99, winchester has the 94 and 92, browning has the BLR, henry has lever actions, marlin has the 93 and 94. It seems most mainstream american gun makers from this era all have some good lever actions to thier name, except remington. Any reason for this?

Remington never really has been a levergun maker. During the "wild west" era, they made the Rolling Block and Hepburn single shots. Later on, Remington chose to compete with Winchester, Marlin, and Savage lever actions with the pump action Models 14, 14-1/2, and 141. Today, they offer the 7600. Remington has generally made pump action rifles instead of lever actions for as long as they have made repeating rilfes.

They do now, since they've acquired Marlin....

Got a Marlin 336 on my radar for 2010. Gotta have a scoped .30-30...

NAA.

Yeah I knew about the nylon 76, but no centerfire lever actions like the other great american gun makers designed in the later 1800's.

Remington was a low-tech gunmaker during those times. Much like today.

Count your blessings. Just imagine what might have been if the designers of the 710/770 got ahold of a lever action.

I agree.

Short answer: No one would buy them if they did. If Remington can't even design a reliable bolt action, I'm pretty sure any mechanism involving levers is way over their head.:p
