Why no SCAR or ACR export?

How about the RCMP "sh*t or get off the pot" and issue an FRT#
Not to over simply your question, but I believe it has something to do with the fact that the rifle is issued to US troops.
(Remember this was a very simplified answer, I'm sure there is more to it)

The US Dept of State (Correct?) put a stop to .556 exports. No more .556 anything is leaving the US.
Same reason people still vote Liberal Josh, absolutely no f***ing good reason. You can always tell when the weakest sperm made it becuase the result votes Lib.

The Scar-L and H are now considered significant military equipment (recently approved for adoption for US forces), thus no more export. Not sure about the ACR though, probably 5.56 marked and not likely to get an export license. Rob Arms now marks the export barrels as 223 Rem. so no problem with export. 5.56 marked AR-15's seem to trickle in once in a while, not sure about lately though. US is getting a little silly with all this export restriction lately.
Questar said the US is no longer issuing permits for anything that is 5.56 stamped, with a telescopic stock and barrel that is less than 16". LMT and KAC are getting in because they were kind enough to change to .233 stamps for us.
They expired!
FYI our 5.56mm guns are 5.56mm barrels and marked.
Our SR-25's are marked 7.62mm but the Carbines have chromed .308 WIN barrels.
Our non chromed barrels as a proprietary KAC chamber (tighter than .308 Win)
Non of our SR-25's (be it Mk11 or M110 etc.) have 7.62x51mm NATO chambers.

The US Govt (I believe SOCOM) gave development assistance $ and knowledge to FN for the SCAR project, making it SME (outlined above), so regardless of chamber or stock, it isn't eligible for commercial civilian export. Never was.
Nothing 556NATO or 7.62x51 NATO has been approved for export since at least 2005, with a further notice/crackdown issued in 2007 or 2008 (can't remember), the further notice was to say that misrepresenting items as 223 on licenses which are actually stamped 556 would lead to seizures/charges/fines, which is why items have been marked/configured differently since that point. This also covered flash hiders and collapsible stocks, all items mentioned in the US Munitions List, items covered by this list cannot be exported for commercial (civilian) resale.

Still SME, just like a Canadian made C8 in semi-auto, licensed US Defence Technology, requires US DOS Approval on all sales.

Almost any firearm is SME as far as the State Dept. is concerned, the only exception is sporting shotguns, which require a Commerce Dept. licence instead. SME means it requires a DSP-5 export licence. Who uses it is academic.
It's got more to do with what Questar is on about, telescoping stocks, military calibre etc.
As I say regularly on here, the State Dept. has fads and moods, I've literally had a situation where one day they wouldn't approve it, the next day they would, the next day they wouldn't (that was for an ACOG, iirc).
The only way to know is to phone up the firearms dept. at PMDDTC in Washington and ask them. Different people there have different opinions, but the SCAR and ACR are obviously on the nasty guns list at the moment. After all Questar did get a DSP-5 for some SCARs.
Best time to apply I think is over the summer because people go on vacation.
