Every pistol for sale has 400 rounds threw it? Believable? not likely. Who the hell buys 400 rounds for a gun and sells it? I never bought a gun and put 6 rounds threw it and went bah next. I have 2 desert eagles 1 probably has 6000 rounds thru it and the other about 1500 so far with plenty more a coming.

Why dont you buy a gun and fire rounds threw it til it melts down? Try and wear the dam thing it out. Or maybe its just a fad what do i know.

Believe it or not a lot of people buy handguns then figure out that it is harder to shoot or more expensive to shoot than they thought so the gun just sits there, sometimes for years. I have personally known a few guys that bought handguns and never really got the bug and ended up selling them with very few rounds fired through them a while later.
It's not me thats for sure, I just can't believe that people acually keep track of how many rounds they have fired through their guns, they must be bored or just not have enough guns to get to the point where it is rediculous to try. I don't see the point, if you sell any they will only have 400 rounds through them like you said anyway.;):dancingbanana:

I think '400 rounds' is the handgun equivalent of 'just two drinks offisher'. Ask a cop--it's ALWAYS just two drinks :D

What's funny, is that many pistols aren't even broken in at 400 rounds. Is it possible that a guy could buy a handgun, run 400 rounds through it and experience a couple of FTF or FTE, and figure it's a bum gun--not knowing that he's still breaking it in?

Spydr, some people like handguns, and some people don't buy into all the hype in this forum about which is the best, so they buy 'em all and try them out on their own terms.

I have 5 handguns in my safes right now I haven't even FIRED yet, a Beretta Ninety Two, brand new, and a S&W 686, brand new, as well as 3 used Colts I picked up as a package, 2 45's and a 38 Super. I have about a dozen other's I have fired and really like and intend on keeping, if any of these new ones don't compare to my favorites they'll be gone before 100 rounds gets through them.

It's not unrealistic, some people have upwards of 50 guns and are always buying and selling, I've sold guns without even shooting them, just because something else struck my attention. The 400 may not be actual, it may be a high estimate, say they know they haven't put 8 boxes through... but was it 7, or 4? But no more than 400.

"Why dont you buy a gun and fire rounds threw it til it melts down? Try and wear the dam thing it out. Or maybe its just a fad what do i know."

That works if you own and are happy with 2 pistols, some of us would have to mortgage our houses and sell our cars in order to pay for all the ammo to try and burn out our guns...

I always wondered about that too but I do know a couple of guys who keep meticulous records of their reloading, so if they are a one load - one gun person it would be easy to figure the total rounds fired. The other side of this is I hardly know anyone from this board who is a one gun guy!!!!

I've got 3 guns in my safe that I haven't even shot yet. Never mind 400 rounds.

I do have some guns that do see >400 rds on "range day" however.....

I can see it. I've bought handguns on a whim and it becomes apparent after 1 magazine or 1 cylinder that they're not my 'cup of tea' which leads me to selling guns that have seen less than 100 rounds through them especially when they've sat in the safe for a long while not getting used. Wasn't it in a Star Trek episode where Spock said to someone "It is not logical but it is often true that, sometimes, wanting is better than having?"

Same here, sold and traded guns with less then 50 down the pipe. I'm trying to understand the problem in doing this. Compare it to dating. You don't go and marry the first girl you see. Sometimes it's just a date, sometimes it's a relationship that lasts a couple months, sometimes several months, but in the end, it just doesn't work out. You gotta play the field until you find one you want to marry. Only in this scenario. its okay to end up with more then one wife :D

Me, on a couple of occasions. Every time it's been because ion Canada to a certain extent you have to buy it to try it. Unless you live in Calgary, you're going to ahve a hard time renting guns to try them out.

Great.

Because life is too short to waste time shooting a gun I don't like, when I could be shooting a gun I do like.

Me too...three I haven't shot yet - and counting! I'll probably have two more to try before I make it to the range. I seem to have a LOT more time to buy and sell guns than to actually shoot them. Crazy.

That's what struck me when I took my course, nobody had a gun.
Then about six months later, whenever I met anyone from the course, on the range, they'd say I got this and this and that etc. Nobody had less than 5 guns.
It seems you go from 0 to over 5 almost immediately!
I mean you need a revolver, semi-auto, shotgun, black rifle, "sniper rifle", numerous .22lr's etc. etc.

I have had this for over a year now. I still have not had a chance to shoot it yet. If you look at it carefully you could believe it had 400 rounds or less through it. The original owner was a shooter be also a collector. He sometimes had two of the same gun, one never shot.

I was going to buy five guns off this guy. His dead brother's guns. These guns were never shot. He only collected them. While the above examples are probably not typical they do happen.

I have quite a few guns that I have not shot yet but I plan to, and I sure don't plan on selling them.

As far as a guy who is selling a gun after he just bought it, I am also a little sceptical. But if you consider that you generally can't try out a new gun (in most places) before you buy it then it is quite possible.

Not just handguns have 400 rounds through them.....:)

I have a .223 heavy barrel in all black, comes with bipod, scope, muzzle break and dies. Has adjustable cheek rest.
Ok. The scope is a Leupold VX-III 8.5 - 26 X 50 long range. The Bi-pod I Dont remember but its the one that swivels side to side as well not just fixed I believe its called a HARRIS. The round count is at 400 and I have never had a problem with it.

If I bought all the guns that I wanted I'd be broke, so after having a gun for awhile { some less than 50 rnds } I need to trade for something new. Instead of paying money for golf or tennis I shoot and trade guns.

I don't keep track either, but it is not difficult to count the empty boxes and multiply by 50!
