Why so much .22lr ammo now?

No doubt...there are retailers still banging the "shortage" drum...but last time I checked, our dollar is pretty crappy compared to the US dollar. Considering the vast majority of ammo we use in Canada comes from the US, you can't expect retailers to eat the difference. Every US dollar costs us $1.27 Canadian today...and considering our dollar was at par with the US when the ammo "drought" kicked-in (I THINK I have the timing about right) then naturally, something a Canadian bought in the US for $3 then will cost $3.81 today.

The HMR question is the biggie for me at the moment. I don't use a whole lot of it, but I haven't seen stock of Hornady 17gr. in a long time.

Half the people on here haven't figured it out yet - wait till it hits 50c then you will hear the whining.....lol!

simple ...

"they" have completed "their" fake ammo shortage agenda to rack up ammo prices. Now its suddenly available again .... at much higher prices we are now all FORCED to pay.

Many can't afford it now. No new laws passed and some have been disarmed...

The biggest problem I have is finding a single brand of ammo that shoots well in my rifle that has a consistent stock. This is damn near impossible without buying the more expensive albeit always available Sk/Lapua, Eley, etc...

I have lots of American Eagle that doesn't shoot well in any of my rifles, some 555 that shoots well but doesn't feed well. Round nose mini mags, blazer, cci SV oh why can't you be in stock all the time.

Winchester dynapoint gts were good too but have vanished.

Nobody is ever happy eh?

Whine cause there's not enough.
Whine cause there's too much....

I think some just like to whine.....

Nobody is whining, it was a question why every manufacturer has a ####load of it back on the shelves. It's not like there was just a shortage of cci..

tsc in orangeville had 22lr in stock. 100 packs of golden bullets for about 10 bucks a pack. They also had bunch of 500 packs of thunderbolt ammo. But they wanted 40 bucks a box which seamed a bit high for me.

I noticed last week while Christmas Shopping that Wal-Mart had 22LR at prices I haven't seen in years. Maybe now the prices are dropping back to more reasonable levels, just like gasoline. On the other hand, maybe the recent interest in the Back to the Future movies were actually a time shift and we are back in 1995...

While there seems to be more around, selection certainly is not back to normal, not in the GTA anyway. CCI 22lr minimag $10.49 at Al Flaherty's today, but no CCI 22wmr. In fact no 22wmr of any kind. Lebaron had no CCI other than some 22 shorts, and only Remington 22wmr. I think they had some Winchester 222 or 333 packs, but didn't look at the price.
