Why such a cult following for Colt Canada / Diemaco ?

I always laugh at the Colt prices.
You can get a DanDef for a fraction of the cost. And really after so much money, how much more betterer-est is your AR from theirs just because it has a colt stamp on it?
I built my M16A1 from a USGI parts kit and a DPMS stripped lower. Been shooting the s**t out of it as my only AR for a long time without a single issue.
I notice one thing though, the people who buy Colts are usually the same ones that like to put their "new in the box" condition guns on silk cloths next to a bottle of some overpriced douchey scotch just on the side of their $900 custom made knife (also new in the box condition of course) and take high res pictures of them and post them on this site.
So that might answer your question OP!

Please inform us of where you can get a DD at a fraction of the cost of a CC (HAH! I kill me) & at what fraction?! I could really use a New DD at a fraction of the price!

No... seriously...

Colt bought out Diemaco and made it Colt "Canada".
Colt compared to Colt Canada is like Norinco Compared to KAC.
There I said it.
If you're still upset go play some first person shooter games and refuse to play as JTF2 or SAS since they're using Colt Canada rifles lol

These are valid points but in all fairness doesn't Colt Canada a company heavily subsidized buy our Government have many of these costs significantly down, because explain the cost they sell these rifles to LEO and MIl, because many Police agencies are paying a lot less than we are, and they are in many cases only ordering a few rifles at best.

Not to mention R&D is should be a minimal at this point.

As for FNH or HK, no I wouldn't because one is made in Germany and the other Belgium unless FNH USA so that doesn't make sense. DD is made in the US like FNH.

Colt Canada and Colt USA is a very close comparison, hence why they changed the name. From my understanding from people in the industry Colt USA VS Colt Canada rifles are like a 10% difference in superiority for Colt Canada favor.

Colt Canada isn't really subsidized by the government; they sell the government guns.

And no the difference between CC and Colt USA is not 10% nor did they change the name. It was Diemaco, then Diemaco was bought by Colt USA, and Hartford changed the name. But they two companies and their products are as different from one another as they are from HK's products. For example, the steel in Colt Canada's barrel blank costs more than a finished Colt USA barrel.

listen guys unless youre in the rcmp or in the caf we're all using our ARs to do the same thing.
So if I have money and I want to be a douche bag and own a colt canada and take pictures so be it you are still doing the same thing with your AR as me, which is having fun.

Same thing with douche bag rich dudes and their girlfriends that look like ####stars, hey dont lie, we all wish we were that dude.

So wish away, while I caress my colt canadas and drink my johnny walker blue.

Wish away bros.

No one is arguing that.

The debate or discussions is about Colt Canada's Cult Following.

This pretty much nails it.

Plus I met the guy that made my MRR barrel... Hell, I watched him make my barrel. He's a nice guy. So I like my gun.

Sheesh I think thats a stretch.. but I get the point.

I know the history off Colt Canada formerly Diemaco, I'm literally staring at my Diemaco marked FA BCG right now. I have pamphlets and marketing materials from them over 12 years ago still in my hands. I have used there products in most environments.

I am aware of the differences between Colt Canada and Colt USA and the early licensing agreements Diemaco had to produce the C7,C8 rifles. TDP etc etc.

What I was meaning by 10% is the performance comparing Colt USA VS CC. Colt Canada being a better made rifle mostly by the barrel and bolt.

I have been to there factory many times.

A LE6940 is like $1200 US made in USA. Complete rifle with backup sights magpul magtech sight and a magazine.

A Colt MRR is $2400 CAN, made in Canada. they are selling in Canada not shipping to US then we buy it. The price difference is a little out of wack regardless.

I don't see that being a good deal but you are getting hosed. CC rifle is a little better but not that much better in cost to them to justify what we pay.

If I'm going to war I'll bring a Canadian made Colt Canada 15.7"
If I'm in Canada plinking paper bad guys with 5 round mags I'll use a Canadian made North Eastern Arms 10.5" or 18"

It's been touched on a few times in this thread, but pride of ownership is a big part of it. Same reason guys will shell out exceptionally more for a Longbranch Lee Enfield, as opposed to a Siamese contract or some such thing.

The IUR itself appeals aesthetically to myself, it has rails in all the right places (for me) and the monolithic rail is pretty cool in my opinion.

It seems to be an issue of 'to each their own' though.

They bought a few batches and only bought the barrels blanks. So they finished the barrels in USA with their criteria, I own a KAC with a barrel from Colt Canada.

They bought unprofiled but chambered/rifled barrels; KAC just cut their profile onto the barrel.

In any case, I'm surprised you gave as much experience certificate as you do, but think Colt Canada is only 10 percent better. A rack grade M4 leaves Hartford if it'll meet a 4 MOA standard. My CC guns will all shoot sub-MOA.

Pretty simple - good quality, reliable rifles at a similar price point to other top-tier rifles. Especially when you can get them on the EE for reasonable prices. Some of the MSRPs are a bit over the top though... like the current MRRs...

Any way you slice it, it is still restricted and with one stroke of a socialist pen, they are all gone ....

And what exactly makes you think that the non-restricted semi's won't be made restricted or prohibited with the same stroke of the same pen? There's not much point in having a formerly non-restricted rifle (that you paid a Canadian premium for) if you can't take it out in public without fear of seizure and criminal charges....

Think it can't or won't happen? Well my Steyr AUG went from non-restricted directly to prohibited 12(4) at the stroke of midnight one night back in the early 1990's. True story. History has a way of repeating itself, just saying.

Glad somebody started this thread :) I took my IUR out shooting today, and had a great time with it. I appreciate the quality of this platform every time I take it out.

Are there better AR's out there for the money? Maybe. Just because I haven't shot one doesn't mean it does not exist.

If you want REAL value for the $$$ buy a Norinco IMHO... does everything the IUR can do. But it falls down in the fit, and finish, and accuracy. At the end of the day, I am still very much in love with my IUR.

And for the record, I was one of those folks who would ''never ever'' own an AR until Colt Canada brought these guns out. So FWIW, I believe Colt Canada did a service to Canadians gun owners... I know 4 others who would never own an AR that bought these :)
