Why the hell do people hunt with semi auto rifles??

I'm just here for the whitetail, ma'am..... ;)

All semi rifles are just one step down from a machine gun and should be banned along with all semi-auto pistols.
.

I was just reading some of the posts with no intentions of responding, but this one just jumped right out and bit me.

First off --- The type of firearms being discussed are better referred to as -- "Auto-Loaders" -- Some folks have a problem with manually unloading and re-loading a firearm, eg -- older folks, younger folks, injured folks, folks with a physical handi-cap, and folks that just have a problem with standard repeaters.

The Anti-Gun Agenda is searching for any gun to ban. These guys love to ban things. If we're not diligent in our agenda our firearms may soon be nothing more than a memory. We won't lose them all in one bite, but small bites that keep coming until the bowl is empty.

Preferring one type of firearm over another is fine as is disliking another type of firearm; but to state that one type should be banned is holding the door open for all firearms to be banned, including the ones you like.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread, preach a sermon, or offend anyone -- just hate to see a door open for the antis.

There is only one reason that somoene chooses a semi auto- It's to spray and pray.

They see an animal, and UNLOAD the magazine...I also think they should be banned. They are basically just machine guns, and noone should own one of those because they are too scary.

It's discouraging to see all this banning talk. --- Dewds or no Dewds. ---You'll ban the auto-loaders, then they'll link lever actions to Chuck Connors and the Rifleman and the lever actions will be banned. Next it'll be pump actions gett'in the ban and of course no one needs a bolt action as only one shot is neccessary which will eliminate side by sides. Then eventually, single shots will be banned as guns are evil and so is hunting and guns are only for killing which is so barbariac. Now we're down to a sharp stick, until the restrictions on how sharp the stick can be and are they semi-auto sticks? My goodness, it's a scary world with all those nasty weapons and all.

Something to think about. -- :)

Spray and pray  But I'm not religous and if I see and animal, why would I unload my magazine. Isn't the point to keep the magazine loaded and take a shot:D

(I greatly dislike semiautos, but I don;t wish them banned)

Auto-loading rifles are not my choice for a go'in hunt'in rifle. I prefer a bolt action or a lever action. Shotguns, I prefer a pump, over under, side by side. I have auto-loading shotguns but don't use them much. I have auto-loading handguns and I like them and use them.

The like or dislike has little to do with it, as that's personal choice. It's the idea of banning, or in other words, taking away someone's freedom that could lead to my loss of freedom . If a hunter feels he has to shoot the same animal five times; well, dead is dead. Might be better he use the auto-loader if he's a poor shot; rather than he keep wounding animals that may escape this guy, only to die anyway. It's not a perfect world.

Todbartell plays the troll in this thread.

There seems to be a misconception about the marksmanship the hunters that use semiautomatic rifles are exhibiting. Rest assured, for each and every article in a magazine where the author bashes some volleys he's heard on his last hunt.... I have examples of people using bolt action rifles wounding or missing game.

I find it retarded that we let ourselves be divided by kids still fighting their pimples out. Talking about weeding out little commies....

I was practicing on the Big Red Range this morning with the Winchester AE .356 and the Benelli R-1 .270WSM...
Shooting the semi off-hand and off the bench at 50, 100, 200 and three hundred yards. My worst group was nine inches off hand at 300....
I was taking aimed shots from a standing position using only the "Ching Sling" for support. Shooting at a cadence of about three or four seconds between shots.
I don't understand what all the controversy is about with regard to semi's. I have seen big deer and moose go along ways after a well place first shot. Many times there is a brief period where a second shot on the high shoulder could anchor that animal. I have had situations where I have been unable to get the second shot off in time using bolt action rifles. Conversely I have successfully anchored animals on the second or third shot using faster repeaters such as pumps and semis!
I do realize that there many shooters who can cycle a bolt fast and there are exceptions to every rule.
I do own and shoot all the actions and I consider myself adept at shooting them all. My most used firearm is a single shot T/C ... but nobody is gonna convince me that there is no place for a semi-auto hunting rifle. Especially my R-1.;)

A repeater is a repeater is a repeater... whether it be a bolt a semi a lever or a pump. And a repeater is used to gain a repeat shot speed advantage for shooting and hunting... Period!
If any of you fellas think you are too good or skilled for a semi then I suggest you put away your bolt actions and get yourself a muzzle loader!:slap:

I also shot twenty rounds off hand through the .356 (Williams Aperture sight).. best three shot group was about seven inches at 100 yards. I'm not ready for my bear hunt yet.

a repeater isnt just a repeater

semi autos for the most part of huge pieces of ####, used by inbred hillbillies that smell like old wet garbage.

How's about, 'that smells like the inside of an unplugged freezer at an insemination clinic'. Now THAT paints a picture, don't you think? :puke:

An' it about stands for my opinion on remmy semmy's.
