Hunt with whatever is comfortable for you. I use a bolt action myself. Why? Because thats what I am most comfortable shooting. I have many friends who use semi autos because thats what they like. To each there own. This can be argued all day...pros, cons for any action. Shoot what you like to shoot, plain and simple.

I came into this coversation very late I see. I have owned a 7400 model 270 win. for 20 years and it is as accurate as any rifle I have fired. I have "never" needed a follow up shot. I bought this rifle and it is the rifle I would stake my life on in a heartbeat. It has never failed to feed and it has fired every time I have squeezed the trigger. Personal preference for autoloaders, I own a Bar 7mm and I love it as well, it was my fathers and it killed everything it aimed at as well. I would not purchase another autoloader but I think saying they are not reliable is somewhat of an overstatement. Bolt rifles have failed to load as, I think it has alot to do with maintenance and upkeep.

I plan on hunting with an M14....
My father was saying they they can't hit the broad side of a barn (I'm sure the USMC would disagree) and thus shouldn't be used for hunting. He "suggested" I don't buy it... sadly I had already placed the order when he suggested

Speaking of M14's and other military actions...
I have always wondered why some hunters believe that milsurp semis and other bolts are somehow lesser versions of their commercial hunting arms?
I seriously doubt most of the commercial bolt guns owned by most of the folks on this board would survive the mil spec tests that lets say an M14 test rifle would have had to go through in it's day.
Also I wonder if ancient warriors had this many issues among their peers for using their war bows for hunting?
